So we know that the football team is practicing, has anyone gotten a look at them?

USMMA Mariners - News

Schedule announced - Lets get ready for some FOOTBALL! :D

GO KP! BEAT CG!!

I hope this season will be better than last season!

My son was working the first down chains and said USMMA won the scrimmage about 33 - 17. 4th Company was there for first half and did pushups each time USMMA scored.

I would assume that SUNY Maritime is not very good. Looking forward to watching on Parents Weekend.

KINGS POINT, NY (AP) -- US Merchant Marine Academy football practice was delayed nearly two hours today after a player reported finding an unknown white powdery substance on the practice field.

Head coach Mike Toop immediately suspended practice while police and federal investigators were called to investigate.

After a complete analysis, FBI forensic experts determined that the white substance unknown to players was the goal line.

Practice was resumed after special agents decided the team was unlikely to encounter the substance again.

:D :D :D

Go Bears, Beat KP!

Oh snap! BEARMANIA is in full effect this morning, everyone's excited for the game (guaranteed overnight libo after the game doesn't hurt either...). Looking forward to seeing MMA's campus as well, it's the only academy I haven't been to yet.

Parents weekend was great, except for one UNinvited guest (Tropical Storm Hanna). I was able to see parts of the game, while wearing full scuba gear... My mask, however, kept fogging up.

USMMA vs. coast guard. USMMA-Kings Point leads the series winning 24 times to coast guards 12. Kings Point has won 3 of the last 4 and 8 of the last 10.

Apparently the news report from luigi59 about the white substance on the field and the Mariners/goal line was actually a report about the coasties. Thank goodness the active duty Coast Guard protects our shores alot better than the coast guard academy football team guards against opposing football teams scoring. (oh luigi, "whatsa matta you?")/(I kid,I kid)(lol)

Give KINGS POINT some RESPECT.

CONGRATULATION MARINERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was my first game that I saw push ups. THat is so cool! I especially liked Salty the Mascot joining in. Game looked good on the internet!
Go KP!!!

Lucky for CGA that Objee didn't travel to KP or Salty would have probably whupped his rear-end too!

Very poor effort (IMHO) by CGA on offense, and the defense looked asleep.

Congrats to the Mariners.

PS - I do have one question after seeing the size of the KP linemen - is there not a military weight standard at USMMA? How can someone 6-0/308 possible meet it (if there is one?)

There is weight standards and you should see us against the rest of league, we are small. However, that aside......CONGRATULATIONS MARINERS!

Certain football players are allowed a fixed deviation from the physical standards (body fat %) to a point and only while they are on the team. I believe they must be back into the normal standard before commissioning or if they quit the team. Even so, we're still tiny compared to other teams in our league, but then again, what's the real mission of KP? To have a great football team or graduate officers? I think we can deal with it.

The weight/physical standards are those of the USN.

Congrats to Coach Toop and the boys on their GREAT victory. I am especially happy that Admiral Stewart's last weeks @ the Academy include bragging rights over the Coasties. Hope he will be attendance for next years game.

I have heard from a football parent that after they stop playing they do have to conform to Navy height/weight standards. I've also heard that this can be quite a struggle for some.

USMMA Mariners - News

Okay, so after giving the football team some bad reviews in my earlier posts I must give them some congratulations on the big win! Well done, now keep it up.

As to the weight standards. In order to graduate from Kings Point they must be within Navy weight standards. If by the time of graduation they do not meet these standards they can have any number of things happen to them including being disenrolled from the school.

Congrats to my brothers at the MMA. An old fashioned ass-whoopin. But more importanly Jamzmom got to meet my son. Figures after four years of emailing back and forth he gets to meet the old gal in person before I do. What's up with that? :D

My understanding from the football meetings we attended before indoc was that Coach Toop has a stricter set of body fat regulations than the Accademy. However they do have a certain amount of time to reach it.

Boss: Did Jamzmom wear the bluehair wig, or just go w/facepainting.. Enquirine minds want to know ;)
Yay Mariners!
