For all Cornell RDers: what college did you apply to & for what major?

the interest designation in the common data set I don’t think is the same as the interest reflected in essays. I think that has to do with school tours or the like. I could be wrong.
Anyway, I think the alternate can only help as long as they are similar.
I applied to CAS was denied outright, but deferred into the regular pool at my alternate selection - ecology. The college advisor at my school spoke directly with admissions and was told that Cornell’s CAS is extremely difficult to gain admission and it is their most competitive college in terms of applications, so they know that and will, if it makes sense, send your app over to the alternate college for consideration. that happened to me and I’m now waiting RD for ecology. I think the backup does show interest as long as the area of interest is similar.
I also believe as talked about in another post that being out of state could help with the state colleges at cornell. At first I thought that would hurt, but I actually think it helps because those colleges get so many in state applicants.
I thought that because the cornell state (SUNY) colleges were listed on the SUNY web site it would help legacy of SUNY grads.
I was hoping for that that since both of my parents are SUNY alumni and both schools say that they consider legacy, but I’m not sure about that. This is my opinion. Anyway, I’m hopeful.

Here is the link for the SUNY state colleges and it shows the cornell state colleges. does anyone have any other opinions on whether having parents that went to SUNY is legacy for the state colleges like ecology?

Yes, I think level of interest = tours, visits etc. nothing to do with Essays or anything else on the application

^do i detect internet sarcasm?

are you premed?
is it a good idea to appy RD to CAS as a premed?

Yep, cas is a good place to be premed. cals too.

can you PM me resume from when you were applying to CAS/Cals?
Why do you think they accepted you? :P

@boomshakala, I’m sorry, but what are you referring to when you said “yes”. I may have forgotten.

@Antiflamer, I intend to be premed and I applied to CAS (Biology and Society), so it’s good to hear that!

It seems that CAS is the most popular college so far. Awesome!

I think cas is the largest college at cornell

Probably. COE is probably large, as well (just a guess)
Question for Cornellians: do students from the same college tend to hang out together? Is there a “CAS PRIDE” or “HUMEC RULES” thing going on? lol just wondering

I don’t think so
