Oh, gah! At least you can't TICKLE me over the Net. Then I'd really have to beat you up. making a scary fist

...ooooh, that's what it stands for. Heck, I don't even know if Malaysia ever had any IMO competitors! But it's cool living in a country that does have them! Yay! Go, Romania!

I made I mistake. sorry. I mean one IMO medalist and an IPhO one :p. sorry...there was another IMO one considering Pton, but as far as I know....he's waiting for RD because he might want to apply to MIT too. don't have any idea about the third IMO medalist in our generation :p

My apologies, banedon. I had no knowledge you were an IMO contestant. That's freakin' cool!!!! :D To be a contestant is enough. It's like "I competed in the Olympics."

so true! I've always been amazed by those ppl! And especially from the Bulgarian team. As far as I know they're always in the top 5 and when I first heard about them 3 or 4 years ago they were second after China and the other top teams were from huge countries like Canada, Russia, USA. I was stunned! A small tiny team from small tiny poor 8-million-people Bulgaria among such huge countries! Most of them go to Harvard. About 5 Bulgarians each year. I just consider people who are so good at math (not only Bulgarians - IMO medalists in general) geniuses! They're amazing!

I think IPhO is International Physics Olympiad

you guys should participate if you can. the questions are really funny and weird. i remember my first IMO, 4 years ago. there's this question that asked

what's the last digit of 7^150000?

i was the only one from my school who got that right. :o

I convince myself more and more that you should go to HYP, seriously. You won't have another possibility, so just try your luck now that you can. It won't hurt.

i'm not sure about Romanians. i met pakistanis, brazilians and americans though. :) at that time i was very shy. just wanted to sit for the exam and go back to my room. :o first time ever i've been to US (that one was hosted in washington). i don't remember much about the country at all. didn't really go around, despite staying there for, what, two weeks?

you were so young at that time! were you 8th or 9th grade? few Romanians get to go at that age at the IMO. actually there is severe competition for a place for the IMO and experience matters a lot!
and yes, usually the IMO lasts around 10 days or two weeks. don't worry, you'll have plenty of time during college to explore the country ;)

haven't had one, yet. but going to....right about...now :D

how much is it left? 3 days? yay! monday is going to be such a stressing day! learning my scores at about noon, having my interview in the evening! :D yay! hope monday will be an excellent day for me! :D

izzy: what candy are you talking about?

Smarties...it's a candy. Chocolate covered in...some kinda shell. Like M&M's, but so much less yummier!! (I adore peanut M&M's.)

Monday will be the day Lakshmi rules!!!

But...maybe you should check your SAT scores after the interview, in case you're a perfectionist and get disappointed with anything less than 800...? :o

uhm..I am a perfectionist...still don't expect an 800 for the sat except for math which hopefully will be an 800. I thought about not looking at them too, but I'm too curious not to, plus if she asks me about the sat and I will have better results now than in June I would want to tell her that... so... I'll definetely look at my scores before talking to her. my destiny may already be written so... :)

Okay...but if you have need of chocolate between the time of the scores and the interview, you know where I am!

So...it's a she, eh? If she calls you at your house, I hope you don't have any younger siblings or dogs or cats or construction around so you can hear each other perfectly! :D

haha. you hit me right at the weak spot. actually I'm having some problems with my phone line and there's a constant noise that I hear and that prevents me from hearing the person at the end of the line. I'm so miserable because of this and really don't know what to do. well, actually there's one thing I can do: hope that she speaks LOUD! :(

sounds like my downstairs phone, in the kitchen. Make sure she speaks LOUD and "enunciate" every word...I hate it when people speak loudly and clearly for about 5 seconds after you tell them about the phone, then you have to CONSTANTLY say "what? What? WHAT??" and remind about your phone...
