that is indeed the rejection number!

I get the same number but I got in. It's not a scripted letter because it has my name in there two spots. so I think it uses your login to determine whether or not you're in.

Hey devaaki, Congrats!!!!!!!! :D I can't believe we both got in!

first of all, it's not "future cardinals".

Stanford is "THE cardinal." not a clue why, but that's just how it goes.

Isn't it because the mascot used to be the Cardinal Indians, but that became non-P.C. so they just got rid of the 'Indians' part? That's what I've been led to believe, anyway...

its cardinal, the color not the bird.

pvs: After the first Big Game, the symbol of the school became the color cardinal, supposedly after a newspaper headline read "Cardinal triumphs o'er Blue and Gold". In the early 20th century, the Indian became the official mascot. In the early '70s, this was deemed politically incorrect, and the "Stanford Indians" name was dropped. We became the "Stanford Cardinal" (color, not bird) while other names were considered, including "Robber Barons" (hugely popular with students, but not alumni), "Griffins", and others. Eventually, despite student votes in favor of "Robber Barons", the university decided to keep "Cardinal".

We were never the "Cardinal Indians".

Good to know.
