For ASIANS and LATINOS..... concerning educational achievment

glance through this link

Why do Asian students generally get higher marks than Latinos? - Los Angeles Times

does anybody find this horribly and politically incorrect?

Whats up with the picture? Bunch of Asians laughing at a Latino (removed out of context)

Low blow to the Latin community.

I don't find it that bad. What's the difference between this and people making fun of black people because they suck at sports or can't rap etc. Each race has a stereotype associated with it. That's just how it is.

I think that picture is not used to illustrate the argument. They just pick a random picture that looks like Asians are laughing at Latinos. Who knows what are they doing ??? I think the writer may have impartiality

Sorry I mean the writer is not impartial :P

asians are always late to class? that's one I haven't heard of yet. lol

too lazy to read all 5 pages

Also too lazy to read all 5 pages. The picture makes me uncomfortable too, but just because it's not politically incorrect doesn't mean it's not true. There are stereotypes for each race. But as a Korean, I have to say that the paragraph about Asian parents describe my own too accurately. And the teachers in my school do seem to racially profile too except for one teacher who was equally malicious to all his students. The faculty watching the halls don't seem to look at Asians too closely.

these quotes just make me go wow and some parallel my real life

'He's Mexican at heart.'

Staffers can't remember the last time a Latino was valedictorian.

this one is funny
I don't get anything for that. But if I get a B, they're like, 'What's this?' "

"They have a 4.3 [grade-point average]. Why do you only have a 4.0?' "

His mother, Maribel, from El Salvador, is a homemaker; his father, Santos, a Mexican immigrant, is a drywall finisher who once took Carlos and his older brother to work with him -- to scare them away from manual labor.

same thing happened to my kind of. my uncle took me to the bad parts of LA and said this is where you are going to end up if you dont succeed

"In our school we have tardy sweeps, and normally the staff members let the Asians go," Karen said. "They don't really care if we're late.
same for my school. i get off the hook many more times than latinos because i am asian.

Of course, there are exceptions to stereotypes at Lincoln. "My mom just wants me to pass," said Thin Lam, 17.
LOL

"We already know that it's Asian, and they kind of market it more for Asians," Najera said. She noted that the shirts for the Academic Decathlon team have a logo done in the style of anime, Japanese animation. "It appeals more to Asian students," she said
lol i find that funny, anime styled shirts

Why would Asians be late for class? I for one always have nightmares about being late to class cause I can't open my locker.

tl;dr

I personally think a lot of the jabs that the Asian and Latino students made were simply out of want of humor, not to offend. Not a big deal; I make fun of my Latino/black/white friends daily in addition to Asians, and no one seems to really care - we all make fun of our races and share the laughs, no harm done.
