welcome clig? how is the transfer process treating you so far?

hey lizzie bear shot before...and suzziq u miss shooting. maybe we can form a group and go shooting some time when we're up there! i heard the closest one is in el cerrito though, which is a city next to berkeley i think.

El Cerrito isnt far at all. I think its 2 BART stations away.

As far as my essay topics, they were kind of weird. One of my short ones was about how transferring in one year is a good thing, not a bad thing (an admissions counselor had suggested that I would be penalized for only having one semester of college grades to show and for using so many AP exams to satisfy IGETC). The long essay was about how my experience in Scotland (I had a massive asthma attack on a school trip and had to go to the emergency room in Edinborough) made me a stronger person. The other short essay was about what inspired me to be an American Studies major. I talked about high school teachers and some other random stuff. Hope that helps!

Yeah, I'm really close to El Cerrito. I'm in Richmond. I don't have my own weapon though. How bout u? Would be nice to have a 357 magmum :) I would love to go to the shooting range again...

i dont own either, but gun ranges should rent them out. i was thinking of buying one....but then i would have nowhere to keep it since they are not allowed in dorms. i think i'm going shooting tonight....not sure though.

ok i need help people. do we HAVE to take 13 units? can't we just take 12???
and can someone explain the whole waitlist thing to me? i am registering for classes right now, and i see that some classes aren't even full with enrolled ppl. yet, i see a waitlist of people. what gives???? and should i sign up for a waiting list anyway?

Hey everyone, im going to berkeley this fall, transferred from Chabot College and I'm going to declare econ. If you all ever need a buddy hit me up at Unit 2

I got into the College of Chem as a Chem Engin / Nuke Engin Double Major.

I have a question about financial aid. Is anyone going to be taking out a loan? If yes, do you know anything about the MPN. Also, when will our financial aid be disbursed to our CARS account? Thanks.

Yes. I sent in my MPN (and my parents did it at the same time) about a month ago.

Your financial aid is disbursed when youve completed the MPN, accepted the loans in bearfacts, filled out any application materials (for PLUS), and done entrance counseling. When everything is done it goes right to CARS. My stafford loans and scholarships already went to CARS and my PLUS loan should go any day now.

the parent PLUS loans sounds like a sucky loan to me. you have to start repayment after 60 days. i am contemplateing whether or not i should go for it. what do you all think?

berkeley is sure taking their time sending my parents the forms that you can't complete online. grrrr.

for some reason, even though im getting a grant and two loans, i was only charged for one month of housing and this semester's registration, which my grant and student loan took care of, with some left over. my cars statement says my balance is $0.00 now. i was under the impression that i would have to pay for the whole semester of housing. hopefully not, since i have no idea when the PLUS loan stuff will be done and actually in the account. especially at this rate - mom and dad need forms!

lizzie bear, i dont quite understand what you are talking about. are you saying that you only have to pay for a month's rent???? did you get any scholarships?
are any of you working when you get to berkeley?
