There now. You see?

Them's there fightin' words.

PLEBE HO!

Take care of her. I'll be back in the morning to see if the vile perpetrator of this heinous statement has been properly dealt with. :D

Was considering Systems Engineering, but had a reality check and realized engineering probably isn't for me. Looking at Poli Sci or History. Is it possible to major in one and minor in the other?

No...It's 0100 hours, not 0100 :D GO TO BED...

hbc im with you. I loved the systems engineering class and Im interested in robotics (hobby kind of), but math just isnt my strong point. Luckily I enjoy history, so Im leaning toward history or maybe poli sci. Another bonus is I get to take language studies and I hear the internships for poli sci are pretty cool.

Yes, but it's not common, and I'm not sure if you can minor in something like Poli-Sci or Economics. I had a friend who was majoring in Physics and minoring in Russian before being tossed because he couldn't pass the swim tests 2/C year.

You may want to contact your BGO and ask them for the specifics. I don't remember even seeing that in the catalog, but that was a LONG time ago.

From Engineering to Poli-Sci, eh? Talk about a swing!

I'm in APan5 and hbc025's position. At NASS

Sorry, hit enter by mistake. At NASS i took the Systems engineering class and loved it, but i'm not that great at math. I'm thinking of a Major in History/poli sci, and a minor in Arabic. I want to try a new language since i'm fluent in espanol.

The torpeodo is interested in Naval Archectiture- guess all those years of boating got to him!

You know kiddos, no matter what college you go to, odds are whatever major you think you might start with, you will probably change. The difference with USNA is that it is primarially an engineering school - so your B.S. reflects that no matter if your major is in engineering or humanities.

Hubby changed his major 4 times there at USNA from math, through several engineering specialities, before he settled on mechanical engineering.

So enjoy this time of thinking about your future Academy studies, but be flexible with yourself as you mature and experience Academy life as well.

Pekemom is right (again). In my case, I started Plebe Year wanting to do Aerospace Engineering, then I decided to go Ocean Engineering. After a rather disturbing performance the second semester of my 3/C year (1.55 GPA), I switched to General Engineering. Now I have a Master's in Industrial Engineering and another in Business Administration.

Confused yet? ;)

Political Science. I am a Group 3 guy, and USNA has a great poly-sci department.

3 out of their 4 Rhode Scholars were poly-sci majors.

I think Jake will be majoring in either Physics or Mechanical Engineering. He's interested in the nuclear stuff. I don't really understand all of what he talks with his dad about. But aside from the major, now he is saying he likes the idea of the marines after graduation. The post graduation ideas change daily. He loves it all. Too many choices.

Well of course!

It's not like they really need to study or anything! ;)

(if) i choose USNA...

Political Science, and I want the American Law and Politics tract (to help me out later on in law school). Want to minor in Chinese and/or Arabic; I can most likely validate at least some of the Chinese, which would give me more room for the Arabic. The track coach was basically outlining my academic roadmap the last time I talked to her, haha.

shawna

shawna: my roomie wants to know your events. she's a trackie as well.

my main event is the 300m hurdles, which is the 400m hurdles in college. i used to be a full distance runner, and have been moving down in distance recently, but i've run everything from the 100m hurdles to the 5k...which makes the idea of something like a pentathlon sound really cool.... :-)

what does your roommate run?

I'm thinking Econ as of right now, because I can see a future in that, but I've always wanted to be in international relations, so that leads me to poli sci... also, I have potential in math and love physics and robotics... pretty much, I will do whatever I love the most when I take my classes. Hehe, whatever homework I want to do first. That will be the first sign. I'm also going to minor in a language, but I don't know which one as of right now. ( I love French but don't see a future in it).

Hmmm...right now I'm definitely thinking Aero OR Poli Sci. I'm sure my mind will change as I become enlightened in the next year or so...
