how can reading be so beneficial to your score? i mean there are no questions after a Times article (or Economist , whatever) like the SAT tests you, so how is it “practice” for the CR section? It does help to practice writing down the main idea, theme, tone, etc. but the SAT questions are whack.

@JexteLox : I think we could practice reading actively which requires require you to figure out main idea, tone and unknown words.
P/S : However, sometimes, I read New Yorker and couldn’t understand anything in a passage !!!

I got 760 in CR.
Books: Barron’s, Kaplan, Princeton Review
Magazines; National Geographic, the economist

Barron`s 3500 words are the best vocab list.It is overwhelming yes,but if you go through it and review all the words, after that take all the practice tests ,you will succeed

I scored a 700. I didn’t do any special test prep. However, my sophomore english teacher stressed learning greek and latin roots which helped immensely.

Welcome any new entry for this topic. I think more people will benefit from this thread if more people deliver their experience. Thank in advance !!! :D
