I am curious:

Is the marching band no cut and if not are tryouts competitive?

Is the feel of the school fairly open and welcoming or more elitist and snooty?

Is the campus diverse?

Winston Salem seems rather small and uneventful. After a year or 2, do students find themselves bored with the campus and town?

Any help is appreciated.

1) As of a year ago or so there were no tryouts (Wake is a small school)

2) I think compared to schools of similar selectivity, WF students are pretty grounded. Sure, you get a dose of elitism from some people, but that is going to be anywhere.

4) Winston-Salem actually got a lot better throughout my four years (2006-2010), but it is not really a college town like Chapel Hill, Charlottesville, etc. Even at small colleges in the middle of nowhere, you should not be bored. If you are doing college right, you should have the opposite problem (not enough time).

As far as diversity, I guess that depends who you ask.
