<p>are there popular singers/bands that play in the campus or near Iowa state University?
Movie theaters?
...
if you are an ISU students, know someone in ISU, an alumni,etc., what do you suggest to do for fun.
assuming I would have time for that.</p>

<p>Music venues in or near Ames…</p>

<p>Maintenance Shop in the MU…attracts bands that college students tend to like, not necessarily big name ones.

<p>Iowa State Center…sometimes hosts popular bands, 2 of my favorites…Fitz and the Tantrums & Capital Cities played there last fall.

<p>Ames hosts a pretty large music festival each fall that attracts some national bands…

<p>The bars in Ames that host live music require you to be 21. Des Moines is only 30 minutes away and hosts lots of live music.

<p>Ames does have movie theatres.</p>

<p>Fun things that students do…
Attend football and basketball games.
ISU has a huge intramural sports program.
Join and participate in some of Iowa State’s 800 student organizations.</p>
