For everyone taking the SSAT on Saturday!

Exactly D'yer. I told her "you're not going to do BAD. What you do it what you do. It's not a big deal."
Of course, she does have her brother who got upper 80's last year, so I'm sure with the competitive sibling thing, she will think anything LESS than that will be "bad." With any luck they will get the EXACT same scores (thankfully one is taking the lower test and one the upper test). :)

Linda, I am sure your daughter will do great!

OHMYGOSH!!!! I'm sooooooo nervous!!!! Okay, here are my parctice test scores, can somebody PLEASE tell me what percentile i'm in?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? (and yes, i do know that these won't reflect my exact scores on the test, but i would really liked to have a general idea of how i'm doing)

verbal: 781
quantitative: 761
reading:781

thanks guys!

Would it help you calm down if I told you that your scores are more likely to drop if you stress out over this?

everyone's been saying this....attempting to be cool, calm and collected...sorta working.....but then i imagine getting my scores back and seeing i scored in like the 30 percentile or something like that and it gets me all nervous all over again. sigh

Have you flubbed standardized tests in the past? Have you taken the Iowa or Stanford tests and gotten results back in any given year that were just unbelievably off the benchmark from past test performances? Doubtful. Now some people are chronically nervous for these tests and underperform. But I'm talking about using your past performance as a benchmark. Even if you're a chronic underperformer, have you ever received test results back that make you think, "Oh my gosh, that was freaky weird how I totally flubbed that test!" It doesn't happen. Unless, of course, you work yourself into a frenzy over this one test. But, if you're ready for BS and managing yourself, you're not going to let that happen will you? I didn't think so. You really just need to chill out because you're going to be expected to exercise some self-control over this sort of behavior at BS. And if you stress out tonight and through the test itself, your results may show the schools that you're really not ready just yet. Because of the impact of the stress, not because of the numbers per se. Go meet some friends for a milk shake or something and talk about stuff other than boarding school. It's really not cool that you're this weirded out by a standardized test and place so much emphasis on its outcome. It's not like you're trying to qualify for food and medical aid for your child in Namibia or something that's truly important.

I don't want my son to stress out, but I thought he should review vocab or do something. His response - I've had a good education, I'll do fine...

Good Luck to everyone!

i've never flubbed a standarized test, usually i'm surprised about how well i do.....But this test is a heck of a lot harder than those. I am now going to do my absolute best to follow your advice however. I will honestly try very hard. my flipping out stage is over. Thanks for your help!

I just finished taking it!
I omitted four questions on the first math, reading, and reading section, and seven or eight on the last math section.

Hopefully I did better than last year! haha

Good luck to everyone!

lets see, i omitted four math question total and 5 in the verbal and answered everything in reading. i probably got a lot wrong tho, escepially in verbal.

hey i took the SSAT on that day
