Pretty self - explanatory... for all the future longhorns! post here!!!!

I'm in, OOS from NJ, admitted to Red McCombs school of business. I'm still waiting on BHP, but if I get into that, I'll likely go. I haven't faired well getting into my other schools, but I haven't seen UT yet, so I'm trying to plan a trip, and if I like it, there is a good chance I'll attend.

I don't know a whole lot about UT other than sports (I'm a big college football and basketball fan) and its strong business program.

I never applied for housing, because I really didn't think I'd really be considering UT a few months ago. I want to find a social dorm not too too far from my classes at the business school, and one that has lots of parties. Any recommendations? Jester looked OK, but I heard it fills up fast. What is the deal with towers?

I am definitely planning to go down there for spring break, it is definitely the best way to figure out what option is best!
I havent applied for housing yet, either... I am going to wait until I visit... Let me know what your plan is.. and CONGRATS!

Hey wooo Hook 'Em '10!!! I'll be a freshman in McCombs and living at Castilian. I'm from Dallas and go to a small private school. Thinking about doing sophomore admission to BHP because I didn't apply this year.

I am a male from CA that was accepted to McCombs School of Business. UT is one of my top few choices and I am visiting this Friday. Can't wait to see the school I've heard so much about! If I do go, I hope to get a room at Castilian... sounds like a blast~ Anyway, congrats to everyone else who was accepted!

Man there is sooo many people in McCombs, its crazy. Im actually going to attend a JC for a year and then transfer to McCombs. Is it harder to get into McCombs as a transfer than a freshman?

well i say if you're a tx resident and you get good grades in junior college, you should have a good shot at getting into UT atleast.

I know I can get in, its just that I missed the fall deadline.

dodgerblue, briefly can you tell me your states? GPA, SAT and EC? reason i ask is because im from NJ andapplied to the same program. What school are you from? im from JP Stevens in Edison NJ

dodgerblue...... towers sounds like the place for you. it is the most social dorm, and has great parties and is close to campus

Thanks for the rec sublimelaxer. I'll have to check it out when I visit. Sounds like a lot of fun.

tpdetail, I go to Communications High School of Monmouth County.

Yeah class of 2010 and yeah for McCombs business school! That's where i'll be next year and i encourage everyone debating to go visit the school on a school day so you can see just how awesome the campus really is. Also, check out everything around Austin because it is definately the best college city in Texas. Good Luck

D is having a good day. Accepted today at UNC-Chapel Hill and UT-Austin (CLA-B.S. Psychology Pre-Med track).

Just got in to Liberal Arts (Linguistics). One question: How important is the major I applied to? Linguistics is sort of random in that I'm also considering a major in int'l relations/politics or Spanish.

I probably won't go to Texas, but I'm just wondering.

And congrats, Idmom06. I just got waitlisted at UNC, but better that than a rejection. :)

Thanks samedi...holding a good thought for you re: the waitlist!

At Texas, I think changing majors within a school isn't as much a problem as trying to change schools....or so I've heard.

ok just for the record for all u people that thought "average" people from out of state (aka ME) couldn't get in to UT Austin first choice major...biochemistry.. you are wrong! I got in! and here's my stats (i know you're laughing already):
WGPA 4.53 Reg GPA 3.85
SAT: verbal: 520 math: 630 writing: 540
no class rank at my school.. from very hard (nationally ranked) public school in maryland

for all those people that suck at standardized tests like me.... there is hope!!!!! but oh well since i actually believed all you people that said average people out of state couldn't get in i already paid my enrollment deposit for university of miami a month ago... so i guess im out of luck and can't go to my original first choice...UT Austin... ok thank you all you negative people!

i think you can still retract your enrollment deposit at UM and still go to UT kahunababe101

Hi Lauren's mom!!! I just saw your post this morning about the great news you received Friday from UNC. That's wonderful!!! I bet she's excited...obviously not going to U.T. now! Congrats!! Matthew should hear from Vandy next week...decisions go out today (Sat). Yikes!!!
