For someone who's somewhat shy, college in a city or a campus?

What do you guys think?

I don’t know that shyness is really relevant to that decision. I can’t think of a reason shy people would or wouldn’t do better in a city.

I think the more question would be large school or small school. if they are both large, then go for the city, as you can always escape into the city and find your niche if you can’t find it on campus.

So your saying smaller is better? o_O

I think you would prefer small school

Depends on the shy person’s goal.

A city would be perfect to get lost in and enjoy your solitude.
A small campus would force you or at least expose you to some socializing.

So what is it, embrace it or change it? =p

I’m a quite introverted person and will be in Mcgill, in the middle of Montreal. So, seriously, I don’t think it’s that important.

probably depends more on the school than the city…

Lol, well I’m not completely shy. Only a tad. Anyway it’s between SUNY Binghamton and Boston University. Also, if I may ask, which school is more prestigious?

This questions has enourmous, far reaching consequences for you in the future. No one seems to really understand the effect the environment has on people…

The pivotal, absolutely pivotal question is who do you want to become? you want to get out of ur comfort zone, become more extraverted, urban, try new things, confident, sociable, outgoing, and better at multi-tasking? Because if you live at an urban school in a very large city, you WILL be a way different person then if you go to a campus or small school or w/e

If you are shy now then you can probably expect at least some of those traits to remain with you throughout your college experience and even after graduation if you go to a 1. small school 2. assuming its liberal arts 3. a bubble school.

Think about it, how long have you been shy? if you go to a quiet, small, secluded school then you are probably going to keep at least some of your shy (at the very least, more like a lot of your shy qualities) qualities. So, if you have been shy throughout high school and you go to a small school where it will be more likely you will remain shy for 4 more years, that shyness will more then likely remain with you for the rest of your life.

This is really a huge question for yourself. It is a question of who do you want to become?? Who will you be? because you WILL change based on your environment

Do you want to get out of your comfort zone, try new things, become more confident and what not?

Or do you want to invite yourself into an environment in which it will be much more likely that you will remain shy?

Believe me, if you could hypothetically meet the you that went to the urban school and the you that went to the small school, you wouldnt believe how different they would be, seriously.

If it’s between Bing and BU, BU definitely wins out in just about every respect. BU has an urban campus, a great location with lots of things to do, and is a national, more respected school. Bing is frigid cold and in a lame town. Everyone there is from Long Island and a lot of people go there with already a big hometown clique in place. I really think you’d be happier at BU.
