<p>I completed the MPN on line after being certified by the University to the lender, Discover, for Stafford loans. I gave them two family members as references. When should my references expect to be called by Discover: within a couple of days? within a week? never?</p>
<p>And, when should I expect to hear about being approved by Discover for the Stafford loans.</p>

<p>I have no idea, but my money is on never. These are federally guaranteed loans that don’t even require a credit check. I’ve listed references on a bunch of much more involved loans than these, and my references have never been contacted.</p>
<p>Just speculation based on past loan experiences, but I’m pretty sure I’m correct.</p>

<p>They dont from what I know. My references were my dad and sister and they never called them and I got notification yesterday that I was approved</p>
