I'd just like to know if I even have a slight chance of getting accepted to Stanford. It's been my dream school since I first heard about it and I really want to know if I could get in.

Here is a quick summary of my stats:

SAT: 2110
SAT 2: Math II (720), AP US History (740)
GPA: 3.95 Unweighted, 4.75 Weighted.

AP Scores (17):

AP Biology 4
AP Art History 4
AP World History 4
AP Psychology 5
AP Calculus AB 5
AP US History 5
AP English Language 4
AP Physics 4
AP Microeconomics 5
AP Macroeconomics 5
AP Environmental Science 5
AP Government 4
AP Human Geography 5
AP European History 4
AP Calculus BC 5
AP Statistics 4
AP English Literature 4

I think you have a good chance, but they may think you suffer from obsessive AP taking…just saying. You should really write about your business in your essays. It will make your application more unique. =)

@Stephypom: Is there anyway that I could let them know that the only reason why I took all these AP classes was because all the normal classes were too easy for me? I didn’t take them for the GPA boost, I was just interested in those subjects and it requires no effort on my part. I spend about 10 minutes studying for my classes everyday…

What is “AP Physics”? Has your school let you take English Language and Lit before senior year? To be honest, your schedule seems a bit sketchy, even if a few of those APs are self-study’s.

Yeah you could tell them that. There’s nothing wrong with that, but It will still look like an over effort just for college. Maybe you shouldn’t put them all down. Of course, it’s your call.

Oh, and I wanted to add, that amount of AP’s might actually hurt you in the admissions process. Admissions officers might think you are just an academic. Its never a case of “the most AP’s wins.” Also, are your classes not that hard? Does you school not offer AP’s?

@Cmacc2 yeah a few of these were online/self study. the rigor of the courses shouldn’t be a problem though because my AP scores prove my mastery of the material, don’t they? and AP Physics is AP Physics C (Mechanics).

@Stephypom my school does offer AP’s. all of these classes are offered by my school. and so you think i should leave out a few of the unimportant AP classes?

butternickle, it’s fine to have a loads of APs, but they won’t get you admitted to Stanford. All the “stats” stuff is just the initial threshold. The key is for your application to show them how the Stanford community would be richer with you here. What unique abilities, interests, and creative sparks would you contribute, and what synergies exist between your strengths and all the opportunities Stanford has to offer? Applicants need to give these questions lots of thought, and address them clearly and persuasively in their essays, tying in relevant aspects of their academic and extracurricular records. Good luck.

9th grade 4 (2 were independent study), 10th grade 6 (2 were independent study), 11th grade 7. i take language in another school for credit so i dont have to take language’s at school, and my school offers 7 periods (we are on a block schedule)
