For those currently attending or know about credits...

How "good" is Vanderbilt about accepting transfer credit from another accredited institution?

I know I've read that each previous course is considered individually and may be awarded credit if the previous course has a grade of 'C' and closely matches a Vanderbilt course. And I also know transfers have to take at least 60 credits at Vanderbilt. But I'm wondering how strictly they interpret this clause and if people lose a lot of credits when they transfer...

Ideally, largely for financial reasons, I don't want to lose any more than a semester's worth of work and I'd like to enter as a junior (as I would next year if I stay at my current school). I have about 75 credits right now (just a few of them through AP) and about 65 of them are fairly standard courses (i.e. not weird and typically offered at most undergraduate institutions). 60+ credits transferred-in would be very nice.

I have to decide whether to transfer really, really soon since I already have a reply-date extension.

If you transferred to Vanderbilt, then obviously you're well-positioned to answer but perspectives from current students familiar with transfer students and/or the transfer process will also be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

I can't say this with complete confidence but I do believe they're pretty strict about the 60 hours must be done at vanderbilt. however, financially, it will not cost you any differently than it would if you needed any less because you pay per semester here (as long as you don't do more than 18 hours) and you will need to be here for 4 semesters as a transfer. id say you'll more than likely have 60 hours of transferrable credit, maybe even more as long as the grades were above a C.

id be surprised if they couldnt tell you how many credits of yours counted before you had to decide. i hope this is helpful.
