For those of us applying or got into TFT...

What’d you write about? Just curious myself. Either way, we can both work with each other when we both get accepted or bitterly resent each other when only one of us does  kidding of course.

I wrote about my parents’ divorce, a hypothetical scenario of me winning an Oscar in 2059, some volunteer work, and my writing supplement was a moment of catharsis from one of my short films.

Do you happen to know why they decided to add an extra supplement this year? It really threw me off.

From what I could see it was just the extra supplemental app that included a personal essay, a challenge essay, creative sample, resume, and two rec letters, along with the normal UC application.

@NickFraser98 Right, the TFT supplement exists every year. However, the challenge essay is a new addition.

I haven’t submitted my supplemental application yet but I’m very excited to see other applicants on this site! I actually already answered the life challenge question in my personal insight questions so I’m unsure if I should just write another life challenge essay or if they would rather have me elaborate on the first one. Does anyone know? (I’ll most likely just write about another life challenge to avoid being redundant though.)

I’d write another one for good measure, assuming you have time of course. If not, try to salvage what else you’ve got. Look, to all three of us here, I hope all of us get in. This school can be rough to get into, but hopefully we all get in and make films together.

Thanks for the advice! I started working on another one today so fingers crossed! I wish the best of luck to all of us and should we all make it in, I would love to work with you both! If you don’t mind me asking, what type of creative writing samples did you submit? I chose a script.

Chose a relatively decent script piece I wrote a little while back. If I get in, though, it’ll be based on my challenge essay and my personal. They were gold.

Lucky! I’m having such a hard time writing another challenge essay. Not that my life isn’t a mess and I don’t have anything to write about, I just hate writing about MYSELF. I finished my personal essay tonight and I gotta say it brought tears to my eyes…literally lol

Just wanted to wish everybody a happy New Year! I just submitted all my supplementals and all I have left to do is submit my TAU … how is everybody else feeling about waiting to hear back for interviews??? I’m nervous but hopeful!

I asked UCLA’s admissions on Twitter when we would hear back, and they told me that you apparently don’t get interviewed for TFT. I was shocked. So I guess just wait til March?

@NickFraser98 WAIT WHAT!!! no interviews??? since when!!!

I have no clue! They were doing an admission Q+A and I asked when they’d call us for them and they told me there was none. There’s a possibility they were wrong but I would doubt it. As of right now, I’m sitting and waiting til March.

Where else did you apply?

I have to wait until April since im a transfer :frowning:
UCR, UCSD, UCSC,CSUN, Cal State Long Beach, SDSU, and Fullerton. you?

Hey all, just wanted to pop in to say I applied as a transfer to tft. Submitted the supplemental app last night and did the TAU. I’m pretty nervous about it all, but I’m hoping for the best, whatever happens happens. As for what I wrote about: For the personal essay, I talked about what initially sparked my creativity as a child and how that developed into a passion for film; for the life challenge essay I talked about being transgender; and for the creative writing sample, I submitted three separate, (very) short scripts which totaled 5 pages.

Hearing that there might not be any interviews is interesting. Not that I particularly want to deal with the anxiety of doing an interview, but I kind of hope they keep them. I guess we’ll find out eventually!

Btw, Happy New Year (:

Hey @northremembers! welcome to the group  Good luck on getting in!!! Hopefully, we all make it! Rumor has it that UCLA sends out all transfer decisions for this year by April 22 BUT tft might send them out for transfers a bit earlier…

BTW, I sent in my supplemental but forgot to list one of my awards!!! …well my only award …from 2014… lol but I received it from a program that I did at UCLA! Do you guys think if I call they will let me add it?

@MiniGrace11 Hmm, if it were the general app I would say give them a call, but since it’s the supplemental, I don’t think it would do any good. I’m thinking back to when I hit submit and a box popped up warning me that all information in the app is final once submitted. However, if you think adding the award will make a significant difference, you may decide to call anyway. Whats the worst that can happen?

I didn’t have any relevant awards to list, so sadly I had to leave that section blank /:

I accidentally left out a really big sentence from my challenge essay and I sent them a revised copy. We’ll see if they actually look at it though!

Am I the only one who keeps checking their admission status everyday? lol I cant help it :frowning:

@MiniGrace11 For me, it has been more like obsessively googling any and all info regarding ucla and tft lol.

When do decisions typically start coming out? April?
