I don't know if I was a unique case, or whether this has happened to other people, but I thought I'd put it out there as a heads up to others.

My WA page has not showed any changes, ie the "View Decision" tab has not appeared, nor has "Seventh Semester Grades-Notified" appeared under "View Credentials". Still, yesterday I thought I'd talk to the live chat people on a whim, and surprisingly enough, they said "a decision had been made." They said I should have seen it on WA, but I still haven't. Unfortunately, I'm in China right now, so I can't check my mailbox either. So if you still haven't received a decision, you should give the live chat a try. This is the link, btw. Have your UM ID ready.

As an aside, does anyone know if deferred applicants receive an email notification as well? I haven't gotten anything, even though the rep said a decision was made on 12/12, so I'm thinking I probably got deferred.

And for all the jackasses who are talking about how easy it is to get into UM, here are my stats: 3.73 GPA, 2160 SAT (800 CR, 640 M, 720 W), 32 ACT, a bunch of EC's, and EVERYTHING was in by 10/1, In-State. Yeah, that's October 1st.

Sorry if that seemed a bit (or a lot) ranty, but I've literally been up all night. So what do you all think? Have I been deferred?

no, i dont think any of that indicates you have been deferred. i am not saying UM is easy to get into, but i had a friend with lower stats than you get in, so i would say your in and if your not you got screwed over.

I appreciate the encouragement, but I kinda think it’s done at this point. The main reason I’m assuming deferred is I haven’t received any email. Do you know if all admitted students receive an email? I don’t think I know anyone who’s been deferred and got an email.

Biply, how many Honors/AP/IB courses did you take, and how many are offered at your school? I applied October 1st and got accepted October 22nd with similar stats as yours (slightly lower ACT, slightly higher GPA, virtually ZERO EC’s, and immense work load). I’m surprised you haven’t heard back…

I’m not sure how many are offered total, but I’ve had mostly AC or AP courses. Science/math not as much, but I essentially skipped a grade in English and History, taking AP Lang (5) and APUSH (4) soph, AP Lit (5) and AP Gov (4) junior, AP Calc this year along with some other random AC-ish classes for Eng/His (Humanities). I sent my AP scores along with my other standardized tests. My stated pre-interest was Law; I’ve never been a fan of math/science, plus I suck at them.

Haha, not as surprised as me. I didn’t think I was a superstud or anything, but I’ve been waiting to hear back for almost three months now. Nearly everyone I know is already accepted.

Yosup, do you know if everyone gets an email or if it’s only those who are admitted? That’s the main reason I’m freaking out at this point, they said a decision was made 12/12 and I’ve got nothing in terms of WA or email.

It’s frustrating, I can understand where you are coming from. The best thing you can do is remain positive. Continue with an upward trend in senior grades and continue to update them with information. This will show your still interested and very serious. Remember your statistics are very good and well above University of Michigan’s averages so there is still a strong chance that you will be admitted.

Thanks for the kind words. But frankly, my semester grades aren’t looking fantastic right now, and I’m probably going to end up with at least one C. Is that a deal breaker?
