For those thinking about St. George's please read!!!

Last Monday, the Boston Globe published a front page article about sexual abuse and cover ups at St. George’s School
https://www.bostonglobe.com/arts/2015/12/14/stgeorges/QBq1IfsItk6relwmPQJbRP/story.html.
Since this article has been published dozens of additional alumnae who were sexually molested and assaulted have come forward. This is horrible and unthinkable yet it happened. The most recent case is reportedly 2004. This may have “occured in the past” but the current administration is covering it up. Please reference “reelgirls” discussion of the cover up http://reelgirl.com/2015/12/st-georges-school-continues-to-flub-investigation-into-sexual-assaults/

I too am an alumnae who was at the school during this period. I know many of these students. It is shocking and sad. What appalls me is that this was swept under the rug as recently as 2015! My child applied to St George’s and in retrospect, thank goodness, turned it down.

I am only posting this so that prospective parents go into the admission process with open eyes.

Can you really blame the current administration trying to defend the school from a $10M law suit from a nearly 4 decades old event?
Is it reasonable to question if similar abuses are likely to happen to the current students? I mean, more often at St. George’s School than at other boarding schools based on this information?
3~4 decades are pretty long time. Our whole society has been changed a lot.

The abuse that has been documented happened many years ago. Prospective families should also know exactly what the school is doing.

The key is that SG is a different school today and this could NOT happen. After failures of previous administrations to examine the abuse, the current head and board are working hard to expose these acts and most importantly to support survivors.

A school that is confidently working to repair prior mistakes is in a much better place than a school that is not examining its past.
