You felt you were entitled an acceptance because you thought you were some kind of "academic god."

"sorry if it alarmed some of you"
I don't know how that can really "alarm" anybody. It really shows how arrogant you are.

I can't believe gator12 did not see my post. Perhaps he did not want to respond directly to my post.
The admissions officers did not see the "poignant" part of your essay.

Again, I'm sorry that you have been rejected, and I agree with Orchid_2010's comment.

i might just drive up too the admissions office monday night and arrive tuesday morning. from miami. i feel robbed considering my classmates who got in and others i know. i feel if i put the effort to make it up there that i should at least get a second look at. i want to know why i was rejected and if there is anything i can do. i really cant see myself going anywhere but florida. sante fe but then wth was the point of IB. i coulda gotten into sante fe last year, skipping senior year entirely.

I would have taken a deferral.....but a straight up rejection? It's just kinda a surprise after my scholarships and other acceptances. I don't know, it's just a disappointment after having people reassure you that you would get in all week. Then I got into Illinois-Champaign, and that only left me more puzzled! I'm not sure if I have the determination to appeal though. I'll have to think if I really, really, REALLY want to go to UF and go through the long process.

Heritage......it's very competitive. Maybe UF just received a lot of applications from my school and thought I was on the lower end of the spectrum.

yeah, i know a lot of people from heritage..i'm at cypress. I know what you mean though. I'm 100% shocked at my outright rejection and the only thing I can think of is that my gpa put me in the 85% whereas everyone who got accepted was top 10%. yet my test scores and extracurriculars bested most of them.

Actually, My son's status says "deferred" and goes on to say that a final decision will be made in March. I was actually surprised to see this as well. So basically, they have accepted, rejected, deferred, accepted for Summer or Spring. I haven't seen anyone "waitlisted", but the night is still young.

Actually, they have one more admission deadline. (March 1)

It's only for the "space available" basis applications though. They probably defer you to that pool. I'm sure they may waitlist some students after that round.
