for those who have completed chemical engineering or are well into the major

how are the coures. the chemistry i took in high school was a lot of math and I liked that. is it like that in college too? or is it more memorization. about how much of the work is math (percentage).

also, I am curious as to what makes engineering so hard? is it the coursework or because they make you load up on many courses (i dont know if they do or not), or if it is graded very hard.

also, if I decided to do another program for grad school (by entering a grad school) and my gpa was lower than another student because I took engineering as my major. who would they pick if our scores on any required tests were similar? I've been told for colleges looking at high school students, they look at the courses they took and difficulty level. do grad. schools for medicine do the same? or do they strictly look at gpa without caring how hard your major was.

also, do people take easy courses to keep their cum. gpa high or just do good in the courses required for their major? what do people suggest with this?

how many hours of work do most people put in for this major? can u have a social life with this major? or is it practice, study, practice

bumped!!!!!

I am a chemE student. ChemE is not an easy major, but it's so much fun (I think). If u like math and chemistry, then ChemE will be much easier.

there is some math and memorization in Chemistry. But dont worry about the memorization; since u will be doing A LOT of labs (in my college is 8 hours/week), u will understand the material without wasting a couple hours memorizing chem stuff.

But if u want to go to grad school, Having high GPA (over 3.5) is very important. Unfortunately, in ChemE not many ppl can get GPA over 3.5.

If your goal is to get to grad school, u should choose Biology major or English or other easy major.
Many of my friends get 4.0 GPA in Biology major. You can hardly make 3.5 GPA in Engineering majors.
