Just got questions for all the ChemE majors.

What was your GPA, and how hard is it to keep your GPA(or a 3.5)

How long do you study each night? How much homework do you receive a night?

How strong are you math and physics skills, and how are you finding the course work, hard, easy, etc. What about compared to your pre-req classes such as Ochem, Gen Chem, etc?

I am thinking about transferring into the ChemE program at University of Washington(if accepted from my cc)

My transfer GPA will be a 3.87, I guess I just wanna know if I am going to be ready to take on engineering specifically chemE.

Gen Chem series: A, A, A.
Calc Based Physics: A, A-, A-
Calc 1: A
Calc 2: A-
Calc 3: A
Taylor: A

And I got As in my English, Bio, etc classes.

Thanks.

My GPA is a 3.4 but I got off to a rough start freshman and sophomore year because I decided I didn’t need to study.

I now (just finished Junior year classes) study about 5 or 6 hours a night, including completing homework and working on group projects. It’ll vary though, I could have three assignments due one day and none the rest of the week.

I found the general classes (physics, statics, circuits, math) to be relatively easy compared to the actual engineering courses.

I would say you will probably be fine as long as you put in the effort. Don’t be afraid to talk to your professors if you are having problems. Above all I suggest forming a homework group with your classmates. It isn’t copying if you just bounce ideas off each other or check answers and many professors will encourage you to work together. In the real world you work in teams so you should start learning that skill in school.
