Just wondering...my application was sent (paper copy) on November 1st, and I never got an email or anything saying, "We got your application." Is this something Oberlin doesn't do?

I requested a confirmation after a while. I got e-mailed by am admissions officer saying she liked my application, and a confirmation two days AFTER :). It was pretty funny.

Don't worry!

I e-mailed them to find out if they'd gotten my application, since I mailed it almost three weeks ago, and they responded pretty quickly.

I sent the common app online on the 14th and did not get a confirmation, so I was wondering the same thing...

I emailed them recently about the confirmation and was told that I was missing some items. I think it is a good idea for anybody who hasn't received any news from Oberlin to email them to make sure everything is going well.

I am really worried... there's 2 weeks left until the notification date, and nobody has told me what I'm missing yet (which is a surprise since I'm sure I sent everything in). I also have not received any instructions regarding what I need to do for financial aid. Anybody else going or went through what I'm going through? ...Knowing that I'm not the only one would help me cope.

Artsavedmylife:

Go to the Oberlin College website > Admissions > Financial Aid > Financial Aid Forms, Loan Applications, Instructions > How to Apply. You will see the following: "Early Decision applicants should register for the College Scholarship Service Profile as soon as possible so that results of the Profile can be used to estimate financial aid eligibility. If all forms have been completed on time, financial aid awards for Early Decision applicants are sent soon after notification of admission."

You submit the CSS Profile online with all your household financial data. Then the financial aid office sends you back an estimate of the aid you'll get if you are admitted. I think it takes about a week, so you might be too late to get the estimate before the ED decision date, but maybe not. In any case you can still apply for aid after Dec. 15, I believe. Check the website - the instructions are very detailed.

artsavedmylife, are you applying early decision? i thought you were transferring (like me) and was under the impression that most schools didn't accept transfer students for early admission.
now that i think about it though, that might have only been one school, and somehow my mind applied it to all i am applying to? it is almost annoying that the transfer application deadlines aren't until march... a reminder that they are looking at your app only after going through everyoneeee elses...

oh but i just realized you are probably applying for spring semester? heh, i guess i just assumed the deadlines had already passed...

Yeah, I'm applying for the spring semester... so I need to wait for financial aid instructions. And since I have not received these instructions, it leads me to believe that I have not been accepted. And that kinda sucks.

Good luck on your application, liz6298.
