Forbes Mag college rankings: Princeton #1

I love how it says Yale has a 97% acceptance rate.

I always believed US News' biggest failing was its failure to measure what students thought of the school they attended. In all other industries a product is judged by the satisfaction rate of its consumers. In the US News ranking the opinion of current consumers (students) is not considered. Instead US News measures "satisfaction" through the opinion of former students with its "alumni giving" criteria. This makes no sense, particularly since many alums are years removed from a school. Instead, Forbes makes an attempt to go directly to the current consumer. Who better to judge a school??? Sure there may be some invalid survey responses, but given the magnitude of the survey, they are inconsequential.
In my view, the Forbes ranking is much more in tune with what the conumer believes than US News.

Does the typical consumer believe that Wabash is better than Dartmouth?

LOL these rankings are effing hilarious! They're just basically going against the USNWR rankings to be unique and sell magazines. Of course they put Princeton and CalTech and Harvard around the top though, just so it has SOME credulity to it.

I feel like it's basically for those people who attend those lower ranked schools to support these rankings and make them feel better about themselves...which isn't necessarily a bad thing i guess. yay for self-esteem!

Nonetheless, Forbes Magazine has great credibility. Some would say far more than US News.
What seems hilarious to me is how you can rank or rate a school without asking its CURRENT students what they think about the school. How do you rank or rate the quality of a product (in this case - education) without asking the consumer (in this case the student) of that product?
With a strong consumer component, the Forbes ranking may be far superior to US News!
