Hey, Guys,

I just heard from a friend that teaches at FLoyd College in Rome, GA and he told me that the staff/faculty at his school was being forced to take a 6 day unpaid leave to help balance the education budget shortfall. Does this affect UGA too?? Just wondering. We're OOS so we don't know the local financial scene there. Thanks.

UGA scheduled 6 furlough days spread throughout the school year, so yes, we have something of the same thing happening here too. They were smart and scheduled them on days when we wouldn’t have class anyway (well, except for that one furlough day on reading day which is the day before finals…so our profs aren’t supposed to communicate with us that day?!)

All of the university system is having a rough financial time. Since I got here, we got slapped with a $200 fee. shrugs What can you do?

Thanks for your response jenmaire. It’s tough in many states right now. I know Florida voted to raise tuition to the national level with their residents paying the difference between the higher tuition and their Bright Futures scholarships.
