Fordham is my dream school. I did okay in high school. Not amazing, but not badly either. I had a 3.4 GPA and a 29 ACT. I made straight A’s my junior year. I got into Fordham but I am worried. It is $67k per year. I don’t believe I will get a hefty financial aid package. I’m hoping to get the price down to between $40k or $50k. I was hoping for some insight. My father doesn’t work and my mother is a lawyer. She makes a hefty salary (in the neighbor hood of $750k per year). I have 4 siblings. 2 have already been put through college. One sibling currently goes to a private $40k per year middle school. The other 2 siblings will have to be put through college as well. We live in a affluent area where the cost of living is very high. On top of this my mother’s law firm recently had a bad year and her salary for this year is currently in limbo. The way my parents have explained it to me is that they will make it work for me if I choose to go to Fordham without any financial aid but it will by absolutely no means be comfortable and that I should consider going to a less expensive school. I was hoping for some insight as to what you all think I should expect in my financial aid package come February 1st.
Well, Fordham is very stingy with financial aid to people with a way lower income than that so I would say don’t expect any need based aid. You might get a little merit but it definitely won’t be significant with your stats. Fordham was my first choice once upon a time. I got in but the package was abysmal and I did not attend. Where else did you apply? Good luck.
I have acceptances from University of Vermont, Chapman University, Temple University, University of Maryland Baltimore County, and I am expecting acceptances from Penn State Uconn and Syracuse. But through all of them Fordham is still my #1 top choice
