Fordham University Class of 2016 Decisions

First of all - agree with Westie and others. I like to know what is going on as well, we have to mail tax returns, forms etc. sounds depressing for us though - I called the admissions office today and they said we were not given access to online admissions decisions and that we would find out by snail mail sometime in the next week to ten days. Sounds like a rejection based on previous posts…bummer. We were never asked to sign up for a myfordham account…

I don’t think my kid was asked to sign up for a myfordham account, but was able to get on due to information on this forum. I don’t think that means anything at all. Maybe your kid just missed the email or the letter, or maybe they didn’t send it at all.

And as far as admissions telling you to wait for the letter, they are probably just exhausted with people calling them, and just want people to wait. Not that many people have gotten emails. I wouldn’t panic.

I do want to commend the staff member who assisted me. She was very polite. Good luck to all. This has been a great forum to communicate with others.

luvsgelato, where on your admitted student tab do you see the financial aid award? We have a tab that says “Financing Fordham Online” but there is no financial aid award, only a payment worksheet which lists the whole COA. I did call the Financial Aid office last week and they said something like “we arent’ finished with financial aid yet.” But I cannot tell if awards have been sent out at this point and my daughter has been passed over, or if this is coming out piecemeal. The website is hard to understand.

still have not heard

Well said mom23chicklets! Funny, when it’s time to pay we’re not accused of snooping!

I snoop. My kids are/were careless enough and not savvy enough to deal with certain things. My snooping has paid some very solid dividends. Now they are savvy enough to keep their business private enough so I can’t snoop in there, at least the older ones. But, yes, I am a snoopy, intrusive, over involved mom.

glassharmonica, my D’s MyFordham page doesn’t have the admitted student tab anymore but yesterday after I clicked on that tab, it brought up a page that had a link to financial aid. When I clicked on that link it brought me to that worksheet where I saw that she was awarded two merit scholarships and the $5500 federal student loan that everyone qualifies for. That’s all we expected as we don’t qualify for need based aid. The bottom line on the worksheet showed what we owed, minus the merit and federal student loan. Not a pretty sight.

Thanks, luvsgelato! I think, for all of us, it’s a case of a little information being worse than none at all. We’re so anxious, as is everyone else, about whether it will be possible for our daughter to attend this school-- which seems to be perfect for her. Best of luck to all who are also waiting for acceptance or FA information.

Mailman just dropped off a big white envelope!

Do you live close to Fordham, COREPOINT? I wonder if upstate NY will receive their letters today, too…

Next borough…I guess the decisions are out…Good luck everyone!
P.S. No info on FA, however.

Like I said, they go out in batches…though I have no clue how they are sorted or if they are alphabetical or by zip code or what have you. In GENERAL, the acceptances go out first. But that does not mean that some will not hear late in the week next week with an acceptance. Don’t assume bad news. What is absolutely true is that everyone will have their answer on or before April 1. They had over 33,000 applications this year. Be patient.

FWIW, I wish they did notify the decision by email, followed up by snail mail packages. But they apparently prefer the old method of a signed letter with thumbs up or thumbs down.

Good luck to all. Congrats if you get in.

Got acceptance in the mail. When should I expect my financial aid?

Would acceptance into the honor program come with the admissions packet or would that come separately? Are students who receive the Merit Finalist scholarship generally admitted into the honors program or are there different things considered when making that determination?

Yes! I got accepted with a pretty much full ride. My mom is going to be too happy when I tell her lol.

I’m in! With a full ride, no less. Big white envelope that barely fit in my mailbox. :’) I was never prompted to sign up for a myfordham account though. I actually had no idea what it was until I was stalking this thread late last night haha

I was rejected because i used a letter to my english teacher as the writing sample for their choice application. Lol…

Just got acceptance package in the mail. So happy to receive an acceptance after two days of rejections! And almost a full ride…5,000 a year :)

@okyanus how did you find you about your scholarship?
