The 3-2 program is very good and very very rigorous (as all Engineering programs are, no matter where you go.) So that call is up to you. Investigate it fully. When you come to accepted students weekend (I strongly recommend it), you can make further inquiry about it. If engineering is truly your calling, then fine. If its an idea and simple avocation then think twice about it. Its serious business.

On the otherhand, Fordham is famous for its core curriculum, which is designed to give you a broad based education and prepare you for life as a multidimensional thinker. It is also designed to give you a dabbling in subjects and introduce you to professors and programs…and many students come to Fordham and decide on majors they had not really considered at first. The light bulb goes on and the heavens open up so to speak. Wonderful opportunities. Don’t be afraid of the liberal arts either. Some of Fordham’s strongest departments are in the liberal arts.

Come ready to work hard. Its not an easy school.

your gpa is probably related to the strength of your curriculum and grade deflation. Your ACT score and class rank speak to that.

Fordham is a special place in a special location (especially Rose Hill).

As you get your acceptance letters investigate each school carefully. Make a strong and objective list of wants/needs on your part and see where they match up. That includes academics, athletics, internships, programs, professor’s credentials, location, weather, student body, vibe, growth opportunities for you (i.e. its not just an extension of high school), your gut feeling on campus.

(These same “rules” apply to everyone, btw.)

The Bronx offers a lot of opportunity for those interested in helping others, which are rich and rewarding experiences. Fordham is very engaged in its community. Its the Jesuit way.

Good luck to all and Merry Christmas.
