One of my son’s classmate got a full tuition scholarship for NMSF today, but my son did not. He is bummed out, as it was his top choice. I guess there is still some hope, but it would be kind of cruel to send congrats at different times to students at the same school…they do talk to each other!

they are starting today and continue to award scholarships through early Feb. So, there is still hope.

Do you know how the classmate was notified? email? portal?

I believe she got an email to check her portal and the notice was there.

My daughter is also a NMSF and did not get the scholarship in her EA admission letter. She drafted a letter to her AO discussing that Fordham is her first choice but she really needed the scholarship to make it possible. A few days later, she got an updated admission letter that awarded her the full tuition scholarship. We can’t be sure the letter made the difference, but I thought it was a great lesson for a young woman about asking (respectfully of course) for what you really want.

Thanks! My so. Is reluctant to ask for anything, but your daughter’s initiative may prompt him to give it a try.

My daughter got next to nothing :unamused: Fordham may be coming off the list. The net balance left was $60000.

My DD received an update today with a financial aid offer for Lincoln Center. She’s being given a total of $24K/year, $12.5K as the Loyola scholarship and $11.5K as a tuition award. We were pleasantly surprised, as this is almost identical to awards she’s received for some other less selective schools, and Fordham was higher on her list than those schools even before the news today.

Hi All! I’m a longtime lurker here who has greatly benefitted from all of the great advice and info; thank you, all.

DS was admitted EA to LC and we were pleasantly surprised at the financial aid package: $12,500 Loyola Scholarship + $16,500 Tuition Award, for $50,855 total. This definitely makes Fordham a better contender than earlier!

Disappointed: My daughter received $12.5k Loyola Scholarship and $2.5k tuition award. We are grateful for receiving anything but sadly it isn’t enough.

My S got an updated letter last night sent to email, wasn’t in his portal. He had hoped for the full tuition NMSF scholarship but only got the Loyola and tuition award for total of $19K. Too bad. It was hits first choice, but he got almost a free ride for his NMSF status from our state university, so he will be going there instead.

Is the full-tuition NMSF scholarship given out based on merit of the application? Also, is it full-tuition or nothing, or are there some smaller scholarships in between?

Thanks for the update. That’s disappointing, but congrats to your son on what sounds like a great opportunity at your state university.

If it’s truly your son’s first choice, I wouldn’t give up so quickly. If you scan over the award letter from your state school as part of the appeal process they might match it or get close.

Same here. 34 ACT and 3.8 GPA. I guess his GPA hurt him which always disappoints me. He’s in a costly private. The rigor is off the charts. Our daughter went to public and the difference is stark. She’s at Loyola MD. His tuition came to $9k there. Just waiting to see if they accept him in their honors college. Scranton did but no ‘sibling grant’. Both solid Jesuit schools. We expected Fordham to be more but not this much.

She got something if the net balance was 60k The COA is 84K.
