@domarge Alright thank you. I thought that I would have qualified for a Jogues scholarships, but I guess my SAT score was too low.
@JerseyMom2022 I know! I am pissed off!
If I got a higher scholarship to NYU, do y’all think Fordham will match it?
@lemmesleep I am surprised if you can get higher scholarship to NYU, why don’t you just choose NYU?Every college gives specific scholarships for a reason.
@Dreamlessnewmember Even though I did receive more money from NYU, it is still so expensive. I thought that perhaps Fordham would match the quantity or even give me more than NYU.
@lemmesleep I don’t know if Fordham will look adjust aid based on opportunities from other schools. However, if they do, they are going to look at the net cost and not the amount of aid. For example if NYU gave you more aid but also has a higher cost of attendance, the net cost might not be lower than what Fordham’s would be after taking into account aid. If that’s the case, they aren’t likely to consider increasing the aid. However if the net cost of NYU is lower than the net cost of Fordham, you have nothing to lose by contacting them. Hopefully they would take that into account.
I am also noticing that it seems like Gabelli students got less merit aid. I see others with lower stats in the college who got more than my kid (gabelli) got. It makes sense, though. It’s more competitive to get into Gabelli so they probably don’t feel like they need to offer as much to entice someone to come. And also, as I think of it, my kids stats were probably lower in the Gabelli pool than I realized since I was looking at overall admissions statistics. At Spring Preview they said the average SAT was just under 1400…but if you just looked at the Gabelli admits, maybe the average SAT is much higher. This could make a student who was at the higher end of the admitted students pool overall, somewhere in the middle when compared to other Gabelli admitted students.
Can you share your stats? My daughter will be applying this fall
