Fordham University Regular Decision Fall 2022

I’m noticing a pattern that most students who got waitlisted need financial aid. Anyone else noticing this? Is Fordham known for accepting more full pay students? Thanks!

I’m not sure. I’m led to believe that Fordham is really need blind (I think they are need aware for international students and for students after they are on the waitlist because money is usually not available when they go to the list). Fordham, unlike most schools has completely separate admissions and financial aid portals. I also think it’s why aid comes after admissions. One has completed their job (admissions) and financial aid is still working. I could be totally wrong though… I thought the same as you until my child was accepted. We definitely need aid. Haven’t seen it yet! My student is a solid, well-rounded, in the range student-not off the charts. Hope that helps.

I think it’s just an exceptionally hard year to get into any school-so many more applications! So frustrating for kids. It’s hard to not take it personally. I’ve never seen so many kids waitlisted (my own included). It’s crazy. Hopefully many will get off the lists! Good luck!!

If your student has Fordham at the top of the list, I would consider reaching out to their financial aid office and asking them if anything additional could be done for aid money. Be specific about what would be do-able for your family (lay out a range of dollar amount). Parents in the EA Fordham thread have some good suggestions of how to approach the financial aid offices. Their offices have been very helpful for most. And it couldn’t hurt to try, especially if Fordham is a top choice for your kiddo.

Just declined our son’s offer from the EA round; hope one of you can snag his spot  Good luck!

My son was waitlisted and we are full pay - didn’t apply for FA. I think this is a tough year and I’ve seen a lot of waitlists - seems like more than usual, but I can’t be sure.

our son was accepted and we have not gotten the FA award yet either. It is an unsettling feeling.

Not the case… many waitlisted that are not need based.

How are psychology and bio majors at Fordham? Are there ample opportunities for internship, research, volunteering?

Congratulations! That was quick!
My son is also on the waitlist. Would you mind sharing the major and campus where you were admitted? Were they the same as your selections on your original application?

Thank you so much! I got into the Gabelli School of Business at Rose Hill! My two biggest tips are, 1: I wrote another essay like response for the “why waitlist” text box. I talked about what specific activities I would do freshman to senior year. At the end of that response, I said I would 100% commit. 2: My guidance counselor called the office of admissions to tell them that I would commit if accepted off the waitlist. I hope this helps and best of luck to your son!

And yes it was the same program and location i selected in my original application

Good morning, is it possible to just go to campus and walk around. Understand cant go into buildings, but just to walk around and get a sense for the atmosphere without the tour ect?

We tried doing that at Rose Hill after having a scheduled tour at LC, but the security guard stopped us from driving onto campus. She said an appt was necessary. Probably for safety reasons.

Thank you for the information and advice! Were you notified of acceptance by email?

I got an email that said there was an update in my portal.

Has anyone heard anything new? My daughter got an email reply from the admissions office after she expressed continued interest with a note saying they will be reviewing applications after May 1st. Hopefully this means that they will be able to clear at least some of this list this year. I’d love not to have to put a deposit down elsewhere.

Waitlist cleared!
