I have an important decision to make. I have the possibility the either go to UM School of Business next fall or the Fordham University Gabelli school of business.

I am confused because on National rankings from USnews it says that UM is better than Fordham, but while I look up the best undergraduate business program rankings, Fordham is the list while UM is not.

Could you tell me please which one is better than the other and why?
Campus and dorms?
Which one will better prepare me for the world of work?
Which has a better alumni connections?
Which has a higher Median Starting Salary?
Opportunity for internship and jobs?

I wish I could help you with this it’s a great thread I hope someone answer’s it. The only thing I can tell you is that I go to the prep at Fordham and a majority of the dorms are great and rather modern with views of Martyr’s lawn or the bronx.

Ok thanks for the answer. I didn’t applied there yet. The deadline is on June 1st but I think that Fordham take only 5% of transfer student so I’m still hesitating to apply even if I’m a strong student.

Fordham business students get internships with international/national firms. I think it is easier to move with that experience if you want to. Also, fyi, you wont need a car at Fordham.

There is something else to consider: U of Miami is THE school in Miami and the highest rated school in Florida. We visited UM for my D and it was the ONLY school there I knew was on the same level of good schools in the northeast. It is VERY DIFFERENT in feel and vibe than going to a school in the Northeast; they have hurricane parties and crocs in the school pond. In Florida, a UM diploma is gold even though it is an urban school like Fordham. Fordham shares turf with two academic giants: NYU and Columbia. UM does not have that kind of intense local competition.

The bussiness schools rankings are too close to call, but I can really say UM could be a better choice if you plan on working in the southeast. Staying in the north, northeast? Fordham has the bussiness rep. that UM doesn’t.
