Not sure if this is the correct forum, but i checked my email today and Fordham sent me an email that said "You've been noticed". They gave me a "your choice" application and $70 off application fee. Anyone know how they got my email or what are my chances? Do I get priority over others? I mean I was going to apply there but my SAT scores are too low.

That’s a mass mailing and doesn’t mean all that much. Look at the class profile on Fordham’s website and see where your SAT/GPA fall. If your school uses Naviance check there as well.

You probably provided your email on the SAT. I don’t see how it could hurt to apply if you have any interest at all in Fordham. Just don’t confuse this invitation to apply with a likely acceptance as you may or may not get in.

I would advise anyone to apply to all universities you are interested in, even if you don’t think you will get accepted. My D’s chances of getting into Fordham were a long shot, with SAT on the low end (1580) so we didn’t think it was even possible. She just finished her first semester at Fordham with a 3.84 GPA - go figure!

If “you’ve been noticed” on the basis of your SAT score, that means you are within the range that they accept, so you are probably being “recruited” in a subtle way. Universities know that incoming students are applying to several institutions, so they have to be more aggressive in making themselves stand out as
a viable option. Not sure you would have priority over other students, but I would take this as a positive sign that they are interested in you.
