Fordham's National Ranking

I am aware that Fordham has a high ranking in the US News and World Report at 56 and a top 50 business school ranking and that it is a rising and up and coming school. I was wondering if it will break the top 50 soon since the schools immediately in front of it, are at least by my consideration not completely on Fordham's level such as Syracuse or U of Florida while they are are great. Also I was wondering when they were going to finish the construction on the Rose Hill Campus.

Also I got into Fordham with 14,100 in combined scholarships and 18,500 at Drexel, is Fordham worth it at $41,000 or am I better off with Drexel at $28,500?

Take a tour of both schools and see which one you like better.

Fordham has jumped considerably over the past few years. I believe we were ranked 64 two years ago and 56 last year. We’re definitely climbing the ranks and Drexel is… is it even top 100? Regardless, there is a considerable difference between $41k and $29k a year…

As I said before, tour both and see which one you can see yourself at. Happiness is definitely worth the additional $15,000. (And likewise, unhappiness is NOT worth $41k)

I agree that you need to look at both schools, look at your family finances and make a decision. Fordham is the higher ranked school but that is not the only consideration. Also you should consider the fact that Drexel has a 5 year co-op program which may or may not appeal to you.

yea I think I’m leaning on fordham. Drexel is 84 and Fordham is 56, but Fordham is in New York City and my budget is set pretty high at 50k flat a year so money is no object. Just wondering if Fordham will break the top fifty soon

Fordham was 61 last year and I believe in the lower 80s about 7 or 8 years ago. The endowment, SAT scores, faculty profile, campus resources, diversity, applicant numbers, prestigious fellowships, and graduate program acceptance rates have been steadily climbing during the last 15 years or so. I would not be surprised if Fordham breaks into the top 50 in the next year or two.

It could go up in National University rankings as it has in the past several years, however, it has been decreasing in its ranks in the business area as in 2007-2008 it was like in the top 30 and now its 48 so i dont know if it will even be in the top 50 next year. so the ranking could also go down…not sure…

businessweek rankings are known to fluctuate greatly from year to year (and thus aren’t one of the more credible college rankings out there). I wouldn’t be concerned by the ranking. The business school has higher SAT scores, better faculty, more money, and more opportunities than ever before. And in 2012, the new, state of the art business facility will open, which will most surely boost Fordham’s ranking (right now, Fordham’s facilities score very low, which hurts Fordham’s rank).

Yes, if Fordham continued its current rise, it would soon break 50. It may or it may not.

Why does this matter?

And as for what school to go to, that’s a personal decision. Obviously, I agree with those who have said to visit both (if you are able).

I find it interesting that Drexel gave me $20000 and Fordham is giving me $10900 a year. It’s interesting to see how schools look at our stats differently. I think Fordham is definitely on the rise for the national rankings, and according to how it keeps rising in ranks I think it’s safe to say it will break 50.
