Foreign language credit emphasis on admittance. Answers please?

My school only offers one foreign language: Spanish, and only Spanish 1-3 as well as AP Spanish. Well, I'm more than a bit frightened hearing "top universities like to see at least 4 years of foreign language" and "I'm in Spanish 6, and will be taking AP Spanish next year. (essentially Spanish 7)". I only plan to take Spanish 1-2, even though I'm a very strong Spanish speaker (for my class and school). I'd rather spend my time taking AP social studies courses and their required prerequisites. Will this hurt me? If so, will it hurt me badly? Honesty's greatly appreciated by the way. Thanks in advance, best wishes.

Bump bump bump?

I’m in the same boat. There was absolutely no way that I could take Spanish II this year and I’m not sure that I will be able to fit it in next year. So, I might only have one year… Which is very bad, but I go to an extremely small school, so there are only 2 hours of Spanish 2.

You should take additional Spanish courses at a local community college/college to meet the requirements of colleges you are interested in applying to.
Going to a small school is not an excuse.

You might want to talk to the AP Spanish teacher. If he or she will admit you into their class you should go for it, especially if you’re an already strong speaker.

My D took one year of Spanish in Middle School & 3 years in high school, chosing not to take Spanish 4. She was admitted at Cornell ED.
