I want to go to Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, and I just looked and it said that 3 foreign language classes taken in high school are required, but I just took spanish 2 years! Will this absolutely abolish my chances of getting in? What can I do about this?

I just took a quick look at their website, it says:

"The following high school course of study is recommended for admission into the University."

So since it is a recommendation and not a requirement, it will NOT abolish your chances, but it may reduce them slightly since other applicants may have fulfilled the adademic recommendations. However, if you took Spanish in middle school and you have gotten to Spanish 3 in HS, you are fine.

I also think... and this is purely my opinion... that if there is any give in what is "recommended" it's more likely in foreign language than in math, english, or science. In any case, definitely apply!

^^^Agree, those 3 are the true core subjects. And judging from the number of posts this year, many students are having problems fulfilling the FL requirements!
