Foreign language in college

Would anyone with experience recommend taking a new foreign language in college? Is the pace too fast or harsh?

I took one for fun at UCR this summer, and it was my only class, which made it much easier than it probably otherwise would be. Most intro courses seem to be an hour a day, so it takes commitment and a non-friday is the new saturday mentality. It's worthwhile if you're willing to put the time in, said most people i heard speak about the subject. But i hope someone can give you a fuller answer than i just did.

Aim78--I didn't take foreign language in college, but I do know the foreign language classes are 5 units each. The average course has 4 units, so that means it requires more work and time.

The intro classes are probably easy, but each intro class will probably teach you as much foreign language that you learn in 3 years of high school.

If the class pace scares you such that you don't think you'd get a top grade, you can always take it P/NP. As long as you put in some the effort to try to keep up, you're going to pass. Maybe not with a top grade, but you're going to pass. And if you're being graded P/NP, then it doesn't matter if you get a top grade or not, as long as you pass.
