Whats the difference between majoring and minoring in a foreign language?

At my school, it was just the number of courses that you had to take.

It might vary with the school though.

Classes in the minor are normally grammar classes, whereas the major will consist of literature, culture, and maybe some more advanced grammar courses.

The major will put you in a position to be fluent if you work at it and, perhaps, study abroad, whereas a minor usually won’t.

The big difference is the number of courses/credit hours you have to have to get one or the other. A major entails and conveys an in-depth study of the language.
