Forestry and Plant Sciences

I know that it is not recommended to major in biology, due to there being so many biology majors, but how is the outlook for graduate degrees in biology specializing in plants? Most people I know who are interested in studying biology are more interested in animals than plants. I would really like to work outdoors in forest environments, I'm interested in dendrology and forestry. Although when it comes to forestry, I'm not interested in the economics or policy that's involved. I would also be very interested in forest ecology, especially when it comes to fire.

Can anyone offer any advice on a major that may allow me to work in forest environments other than what I mentioned?

Is this a bad idea considering the abundance of biology majors?

Any advice at all would be great.

If you aren’t interested in economics or policy, what exactly do you want to do in a forest environment?
