I signed up for a college visit but then totally forgot to attend. Will they hold this against me in admissions?
Unlikely. Are you still planning to visit? If you live within driving distance and the school cares about ‘demonstrated interest’ (check the Common Data Set), then make the effort to get there. Otherwise this is optional.
If a school says on the common data set that they don’t care about demonstrated interest, does that mean visiting does not matter?
^ Yes,
For some top schools within your driving distance, college visit may be used as an indication of showing interest. In that case, signing up for a visit but no-show would just indicate the opposite.
But if the school specifically states demonstrated interest is NOT used in admission then it has no bearing.
I’ve got to ask: if you forgot to attend the college visit, is it a school you’re all that excited to apply to?
You can always email admissions, apologize, and reschedule if you want.
