Forgot to submit CSS Profile- how screwed am I??

SO I applied ED to Brown..and I didn't realize until last night that my CSS Profile was due along with the rest of my application. I assumed it was due along with FASFA in late Feb/early March

If I turn it in today, 20 days after the ED deadline, will I not receive financial aid? Or will it just come later?? Also, does this affect my chances of admissions??

Please help, I'm legit freaking out over here haha

Call BROWN…

I shouldn’t impact your chances of admission, but it will impact financial aid, by either disqualifying you or delaying an offer. Call them NOW - you should be spending your time talking to them, and completing the CSS rather than hanging out here. We can’t give you a definitive answer, they can!

I really don’t understand why kids post these types of issues here rather than contacting the school directly. The school is the only one that can answer this. Really, someone explain this. There is at least one thread like this a week.

And OP - CALL Brown, don’t email. Right now.

(1) Kids today aren’t used to using the phone. It’s the last thing they’d think to do. (way down the last after texting, IM’ing, emailing, and posting to a public forum!)

(2) Scheduling issues - the kids are in school all day, so it might seem difficult to find the time to make a call.

(3) No matter how apparent it will soon be that you’ve made an incredibly stupid mistake, it’s still no fun to have to call someone up and confess to being an idiot, especially when it’s someone you’d hoped to impress with how smart, resourceful, and responsible you are!

It was due Nov. 7th.

If you don’t submit CSS form by deadline, it won’t affect admission, but you won’t get any money.

At least that is what it says. When you call, you can prostate yourself, and hope for mercy.

Some schools provide more crutchlike support. Northeastern sent an e-mail yesterday reminding that for EA applicants, if you want financial aid package at same time as decision in Dec., need to submit CSS by 12/1. If you submit it later, you can still get aid, but won’t find out what it is until much later.

Alright, I just called and they said I’d be fine turning it in tonight. The deadline is simply to guarantee students that they will see their package in their acceptance letter, but I have until January to turn it in.

And yea, I do realize that I should have called before posting here, but I’m sure you know that teens don’t normally react rationally in stressful situations :p

That’s great. You must be so relieved… Hope it works out for you.

Do not wait til January, otherwise you’ll have an ED acceptance, but not know how much FA you’ll get. If the school accepts your ED app, you’re supposed to “accept” or “reject” within a couple of weeks. How will you do so if you need to know what your FA pkg is?

Submit CSS as soon as possible.

If a decision hinges on financial aid, maybe you should change your Brown application to regular decision.
