Is it possible to do corporate finance work at a fortune 500 company for a couple years then move to corporate development or can you on move into corp dev if you have consulting/banking exp? If you can move into corp dev from corp fin, how hard is the move?

First answer: From what I know they mostly hire MBA's, but its definitely possible for corporate finance to hire undergrad's too.

Second Answer: The move into corporate development isn't hard once you put in a good 2-3 years in corporate finance and did well while you were there. I would advise you to work at a normal IB then get your MBA from a good school and then I think you should take this route. Best of Luck.

corporate dev is mostly ex-bankers.

think about it, they want people who have actively worked on m&a deals and have that type of experience, not the type of experience that traditional f500 corporate finance will be doing.

i think it is going to depend on what range within the Fortune 500 the company lies. But if you look at say the Fortune 100 companies, most descriptions specifically ask for ex bankers. Industry also affects what the company is looking for, along with available assets.
