Forty Acres Scholarship

I'm thinking of applying to UT Austin in senior year and I'm currently a rising junior.
Additionally, I hope to get the Forty Aces Scholarship.
How difficult is it to get the Forty Acres (how many people receive it each year)

I hope to major in comp. sci or some kind of engineering.

This my academic record:
Freshman year: All A's (2 language classes, 1 PE, 5 honors)

Sophomore year: (so brutal): (6 AP classes (3 B's, 3 A's), 1 honors (A), 1 Advanced PE (A))

My high school is a little different so I'll be taking legit college classes next year. And from what I've heard, the junior and senior years are easier than sophomore year so I think I have a good chance to maintain a 4.0 unweighted GPA for junior and senior year.

9th grade SAT:
Overall: 2010
Math: 760
Reading: 610
Writing: 640

I did the official Collegeboard practice SAT test online and I got a 2230 but I normally get around 2180. I'll take the SAT a final time in junior year.

I also head a club and I play tennis and piano (learning to program as well). I also plan to get 300 volunteer hours.

Am I on the right track to even stand a chance for getting the scholarship?

I heard very few people get it... so I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be more difficult than I imagined.

“The Forty Acres Scholars Program seeks well-rounded students who’ve shown evidence of academic achievement. They must demonstrate a breadth and depth of effective leadership experiences, a commitment to community service, initiative and perseverance. The program seeks exceptional people from the whole spectrum of interests. Potential scholars could be the first chair in the orchestra or a small business owner, a budding research scientist or a varsity athlete.”

Highly selective. Several from our high school have been offered the scholarship over the last three years. All but one chose to go elsewhere however. The student who did accept was student body president, a National Merit Scholar, Plan II Honors, etc etc.
The others who went to Duke and Ivy’s were all National Merit Scholars, all had close to perfect test scores, grades and all had unique interests or leadership.
But the selection committee also tends to want a “diverse” group each year…so they choose from all sizes of high schools from all parts of the state.
