This gives some background:
[Founders Day Information](http://www.usma.edu/DAA/Founders%20Day%202008/Founders%20Day%20Information%20page.htm)

In our area we candidates are usually given a briefing before the dinner - information on how to prepare for R-Day, Beast etc. A few cadets are usually there to answer questions and it is a great opportunity for the new families to meet members of the parent’s club. Other areas may not do this. It is usually a great event to attend, but not everyone is able to do so.

So it wont increase your chances?

Whole candidate score points are not awarded for attending West Point related events. Just make sure you respond to the invitation explaining that you will be out of town and will not be able to attend.

Good luck!
