I kind of did the same thing--planned out the four years of high school. I updated it each year, though. Spent hours and hours on it... made me think I should ask my doctor about OCD... :p

"That's kind of hard to do; schools change their courses and registration forms all the time."

Very true. I took french in middle school, 9th and 10th grade and was planning on taking it 11th and 12th, but there wasn't enough people who signed up to fill a class (although I thought 11 should have been enough). Things change.

I'm in 8th grade and I'm super bored so I made my own four year plan for high school. :)

This is if I get into the prep school I applied to...

there's a lot of fluidity for junior and senior year, because i know my schedule won't be as planned. my school isn't big enough to offer enough classes of each to allow students to seriously plan out their schedules, but i hope to get most into my schedule one year or the other.

My school had suggested 4 year plans. And my mom and my counselor helped me make one my freshman year (and though it changed, it stayed a lot the same).

The thing is, though, there isn't really a point in everyone having the same plan. Obviously, people can share theres, and it can help, but every school is different in what it offers (and it also depends on what college you want to go). Also, it very much depends on the individual person. I'd say meet with your counselor and maybe your parents and set a plan for yourself. It'll need to be flexible, but at least it'll give you some direction.

By the way, you don't need all the APs and advanced classes some of the above posters have to get into good colleges. Obviously, people here on CC tend to be overachievers, but seriously. If you want to get into Ivies, or get scholarships at prestigious schools, then yes, you do. But though I took quite a few APs, I didn't take nearly that much (partially because I was too busy, and partially because my school didn't offer as many as others), but I still got into pretty good schools, and I got really good scholarships at schools that maybe aren't top notch, but aren't bad either. Oh, and if you're taking the AP courses for extra credit, know that you can self-study instead, which may take up less time. So once again, your schedule very much depends on the individual.

Do not make an entire 4-year plan. You will only be disappointed by the schedule conflicts, requirements, etc. that will force you to change classes. Just go with the flow of what your interests are.

our school makes us create a 4 year plan (we call it an EDP...educational development plan) starting in 8th grade for our freshman year of high school. we have to update it every year. apparently it's some Michigan state law requirement.

Jman, I made a change with my 12th grade year.

I just realized I don't have a math course for my senior year.. which course should I cancel? Should I replace AP Chemistry with Honors Physics for my junior year?

How many AP's should I have if I want to go to a top school? The school I applied to offers 16.
