^^Matrix Theory = another word for Linear Algebra. You don't need to take one over the summer.

i had 10th, 11th, and 12th planned out..but only at the beginning of 10th grade

looks like the plan i made is gonna work (i.e. im gonna go wit the plan)

I just realized I don't have a math course for my senior year.. which course should I cancel? Should I replace AP Chemistry with Honors Physics for my junior year?

How many AP's should I have if I want to go to a top school? The school I applied to offers 16.

[/quote]

I'd take Jazz band, since doing something like that for 4 years looks good.

I'd say cancel french or spanish. You don't need to do both! Take AP Calc AB instead.

By "top school," do you mean HYPS? Because then you probably need to take as many APs as possible. If you mean top 15 or 20, then there's no set number. More is better, but not at the cost of your sanity or even your social life.

Oh, and if anyone was wondering, here is what I took. It's slightly different from the plan I made my freshman year, but it worked out fine, since I'm now graduated and in college.

Summer before 9th:
*Health

9th Grade:
*Theatre II
*Beginning Dance
*English I H
*Biology H
*Integrated Math III H (pretty much equivalent to Algebra II H)
*Spanish I

Summer before 10th:
*Driver's Ed

10th Grade:
*Intermediate Dance
*English II H
*Chemistry H (my school didn't offer the AP class, but I took the AP test anyway and got a 4)
*IB Trig/Pre-Calc (Didn't take the test, as it was lower level, which meant most colleges would not give me credit for it. Also, I wasn't going full IB, and if I were, I couldn't take the test my sophomore year anyway and would have to wait a year.)
*Spanish II
*World History H

Summer before 11th:
*Economics H (Boy, that class was a joke, since I had a horrible teacher...)

11th Grade:
*Dance Company
*English III AP/IB
*Physics H (they offered AP, but it required summer school, and I decided to go on a mission trip with my church instead. I took the AP test anyway, and got a 5)
*AP Calc AB (didn't offer BC)
*Spanish III

12th Grade:
*Dance Company
*English IV AP/IB
*AP Spanish IV (for the Spanish Language AP test)
*IB History of the Americas (the high school govt. requirement was fulfilled by cramming all the govt. stuff in the month after the IB test)
*Calc II at a community college (fall semester only)
*Concert Band (Spring semester only)

As you can see, I did well, but was by no means an overachiever. I still got accepted to all the schools I applied to. I didn't apply to Ivy Leagues for financial reasons, but I applied and was accepted to 12 colleges, including Duke, UCLA, UCB, USC (with a half tuition scholarship), and UNC Chapel Hill. I also got some pretty hefty scholarships at schools such as Pepperdine, UCSD, UCI, and Baylor, which aren't exactly top schools, but are still pretty pretty good.

Haha, it's not weird. I made out a 4-year plan before I went into high school. Originally I only wanted to do 5 or 6 APs, and I ended up with 15 haha. Actually, I didn't go to one school because the program I was interested in required AP Macroeconomics, and now I'm doing both AP Econs. This is what my schedule ended up being:

Summer school:
PE
Life Management Skills

9th (had block schedule at this point):
English I Honors
World History Honors
Geometry Honors
Leadership I (Student Council)

Algebra II Honors
Biology Honors
French I
Leadership II (Student Council)

10th (normal schedule):
Precalc
French II
AP European History
English II Honors
Chemistry Honors
Interior Design

11th:
AP Art History
AP Calculus AB
AP Chemistry
AP English Language
AP United States History
Physics Honors

12th:
AP Statistics
AP English Literature
AP Physics C
AP US Gov't / AP Macroecon.
AP Calculus BC
AP World History

Ind. Study (12th):
AP Microecon.
AP Comparative Gov't

Online class (12th):
PE...ugh

Swim...how do you go from English 1 to AP English Language? You go to English PIB 2...Don't lie.

Courses at community college don't mean anything compared to taking classes at a University or Renowned Private College.

How do you do PE online...That's weird...it's PHYSICAL education. You need to actually do activities, not sitsit in front a computer.

^^Well, they used to force us through PIB English II, but this year they've changed it and are letting sophomores take AP English Language for some bizarre reason.

(We go to the same school.)

I don't think so...

somehow i think she knows more about her school...

um ok??? lol.....idk y u hve a problem with how our skool works and yes u can take PE online...i was going to do it but i found out since im in IB i dont need 2 take it.....and i think you have no life for fighting us about skool.......ok fine don't believe us but do you honestly need to publically annonce it?

No, I just have a problem wtih people lying.

so you honestly think that we're both lying so either a) make us sound extremely smarter then we rly are, b) **** you off, or c) both. We just go to a rly good high school that ranked in the top 10 schools in the nation. yes, our principal is incompetent and are making us take harder classes then we are not prepared for (even though i hear its easy) but that doesn't mean that we're lying.

I took PE online. Alot of Florida students do it because we have FLVS. And you do have to workout.

flvs is amazing!

Uhhh...smart? I don't think so. You're just offered more chances and still you're schedule isn't anything "spectacular".

By the way, you're not doing AP English, I need proof, let me see one of your writing samples.

you know what i have nothing to prove to you....as i said before you don't need 2 believe me but w/e.....im not here to convince people that im smarter better or anything else that you can think of....im just here for the same reason as anyone else (except for the few that come to brag about their amazing rank/grades) so can you just be quiet

Why does it matter? Maybe they're lying -- though with two people its less likely -- but who really cares? Or maybe they're not. After all, my school started prepping us for the English Language class sophomore year (and a tad even freshman year), which I personally think is ridiculous because I'm against simply teaching to AP tests. But anyway, some people could have taken and passed the AP English Language by the end of sophomore year. I'm sure I could have. We probably wouldn't have done as well as we did a year later, but there would be people who passed.

But anyway, does your school have separate AP and IB English courses? Weird. Ours were AP/IB, to prepare us for both exams.

You need proof, Masterus? Somehow I think the way their school works doen't concern you...

flvs is amazing!

I've only taken two courses through FLVS (Algebra 2 and Personal Fitness), but I have liked it so far. The only problem I have is that sometimes I get behind in the course by a couple of weeks, and it's hard to get caught up again.

Did you say you went to Stanton? Or was it Paxon? Or maybe I'm off completely :D.
