four-year high school plan for college

They already showed me the website...I've seen all I need to, they lied.

AND, Fizix deleted his original post, which had stated PIB English 2...That's what my original complaint was, read through the thread. LIES!

ok 1.that course plan hasn't been changed for years (as many things get changed which I'm sure mist of you guys have experianced at one time) and to JMan i go to Suncoast and I hvnt rly done a real course on flvs yet but my friends took AP US gov and said its rly good so I'm doing AP Art History this summer :D....o n im not a known liar (to Masterus) and what good would it be if we did?

You mean www.flvs.net ? Why do you think it is not legit? I've taken two courses on it and recieved high school credit for them. It's free for Florida students, but not for out-of-state or international students.

FLVS is generally good in its content. It has its advantages over traditional high school courses, but it is only good for people who can teach themselves, and for people who do not procrastinate because you are forced to do every assignment. You cannot skip any. That's why students get better grades on FLVS.

no he's talking about our school homepage that's outdated and says we still take PIB enlish 2.....it also says we don't take AP macro junior year (new requirement), and that we hve a 6 day period after IB TOK instead of an elective..... I'm kinda combining 2 magnets together because I'm switching magnets (cuz I refuse to take AP Physics) so ya......i think he'd be fine with flvs

Oh, I misunderstood.

My schools webpage sucks, but the school is very good :D .

http://www.edgewood.brevard.k12.fl.us/

http://suncoasths.palmbeach.k12.fl.us/
this is ours but the programs rly aren't accurate......edline is the only thing you can trust cuz you'd be able to see no PIB English 2 :)

I've spent many hours of my life mapping out my whole four years for no reason whatsoever other than boredom.

it is a good idea to have a general idea of what you want to take, but you may change your mind. Unlike the OP's plan, when I was a freshman, i decided to do intro to photography, because we need to have a fine art credit to graduate. I ended up LOVING it and now am taking Adv. Photography 5/6, Photojournalism, I am a photo aid, and am President of Photo Club...obviously had an impact on me.

Why isnt anyone taking very many electives that aren't AP?

Well at my school it is basically divided into computer/drama/art electives. I suck with computers, and in no way in hell am I gonna do drama. So, I stick with art. The rest of my electives are AP's.

You still lied...http://suncoasths.palmbeach.k12.fl.us/Program_IB_4yp.htm

That was me, only with dance. I took dance for PE credit, because I'm horrible at PE and thought I at least had a chance with dance. I ended up being in dance for all four years, and was in a performing group at my school (not the highest one, but the second highest), for two years. Not bad considering some people have danced all their lives...

On the other hand, I'd intended to take more than one year of theatre, but the teacher wasn't very good, so I didn't.

So yeah, making a plan is good, because it helps keep you on the right track. But make sure it's flexible!

Oh my god, Masterus, stop whining. Two things:

A)Perhaps they are lying, but get this: It doesn't matter. I know this may come as a shock to you, but they didn't write that to make anyone angry.

B)Perhaps they are telling the truth. That website doesn't prove anything; it's just the school's recommended course plan. They can make changes to it. My school lets sophomores take IB Math SL, but they don't feel the need to advertise it on a web page.

Just stop whining, it's really bugging me.

wow, i m not the only one whose that bored w/ life. Before 9th grade i thought i knew what i m going to do- take Home Ec/Culinary Careers as electives 9th and 10th grade and do IB 11th/12th. i had no idea how valedictorian-driven i would become and my whole thought changed from "taking cooking class would be useful" to "i need to get as many honors/weighted class possible to get higher GPA/rank"
i wish i could go back in time and change my elective choice to art, but its too late now.

So making a "4 -year plan" is good if you really take time to evaluate your likes/passions/interests and pick classes/electives you love and not just AP_, AP_and more AP_)

No, I'm definitely not whining, but they wrote it lying to us and attempting to show off.
This is called a FORUM...that means we comment to what we SEE.

Why don't you leave if it bugs you? Don't read this thread then since I'm obviously not leaving.

^^You know, I doubt most people come to this forum to show off. (Or at least not to the extent that they'd lie about their credentials.) That's because there are so many better people ON this forum...if we wanted to show off we wouldn't dare do it in the presence of so many good people.

I personally just come here because I'm bored. And occasionally like giving people advice without it being all awkward and such. :)

It was the MSE program not the IB program they referred to. If you click the four year plan of MSE program you will notice that their freshman take pre-calculus. As to the AP English for sophmore, it is a more recent development.

I am doing PE online now. You have normal assignments (food pyramids, charts, essays, etc.) but you also have workouts to do. Your parent has to sign off for them. Yeah, I bet most kids just fake their parents' signature or their parents don't care, but mine do, so I actually do it. And going from studying with zero physical activity to 3 or 4 45-minute workouts a week seems sufficient to me to get a physical education credit. Plus, I already did PE during the summer but in FL you have to have two credits. One of the classes you can take requires 0 physical exertion, it's just bookwork. But, it's a half-year, unweighted course and I'm taking all APs. It doesn't fit with my schedule.

Clarification: I take APs because I love the challenge they give me, not to pad my resume, especially since I was accepted to college before my senior year. The other electives at my school are ridiculous and I don't like to waste my time. Plus, we have some absolutely amazing AP teachers at my school and it makes the class way more than a class with a test at the end, but something I look forward to everyday.

I got my mom to sign every time, but sometimes I didn't do the exercises. :D I was playing tennis every day for 2 hours.

Only 1.5 PE credits are required to graduate from most schools in Florida (some require more), and one could take all of them online (Personal Fitness, Life Management Skills, and Fitness Lifestyle Design). Life Management Skills doesn't require physical activity.

Masterus
i said before that they never change it but i find this the most retarded argument i've ever had lol.....i dont even know you and your all like "stop lying! I don't believe you!" well who cares what you think about OUR school or us..... im obviously never going to meet you in life (nor do I want to) so just leave it

He's just jealous....
