haha that was my first reaction cuz he was so cocky before in the post of "whos more competitive" thread.

I just don't understand why he cares so much about your schedule...

Jealousy is a possibility :D

i mean come on....could we have a more stupid argument??.....and he was the one to start it......and i wonder if he noticed everone against him.....

Search his previous posts, he's fond of criticizing people's schedules and accusing them of lying. The ensuing drama is always amusing.

No, I'm definitely not jealous...my schedule is still better even though their school offers so much more chances, I'm jealous of the school because if I was offered those chances, I would probably have did Calculus BC in 8th grade and much more courses.

Everyone knows me fizix...because I'm critical, it's nothing new...you're just late.

You get to be jealous of our school when we start offering Latin and European History. And get decent teachers for government, French, and everything not math or physics related. Many of our "good" teachers have left in the past few years. And even before they left, many of the "AP" classes I've taken were really self-study -- the only function the teacher would serve is to say "okay, the test is Wednesday, study chapter 6. you have no homework." We had four government teachers last year. FOUR. Last year was the last year we even offered comparative government, probably because most of us failed the exam.

So what this basically means is just because an online course plan says we offer a ton of AP courses doesn't mean the education we get is necessarily better than any self-study plan you could make for yourself. I was solely responsible for those double 5s in government I got last year. You have no need to be jealous of our opportunities.

And try getting all these people to leave this group:
http://hs.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2231813458&ref=nf
:D

Ordinarily at our school you're banned from taking AP courses freshman year. I know of only two people (myself included) who managed to get exceptions, and they had strong backgrounds and teachers on their side.

By the way, taking lots of courses early isn't necessarily a good thing. Let's say you took AP Biology in ninth grade, got a 5, and went to a college where you could place out of class with AP credit. By the time you get to college, you're screwed because you've probably forgotten your biology, and now you're taking second-year classes without the benefit of your first-year knowledge. Which often leads to major flopping. (Ask my second-best friend about major flopping.)

If you're so keen on taking classes, be like MithsApprentice (dig through the posts on the MIT acceptance thread) and self-study tons of AP courses. You are the master of your destiny. Nobody learns by going to a good school (or a semi-good school, or a bad school) and absorbing knowledge osmotically. Improve yourself; it's the American way.

I'm rather confused. Wouldn't that mean your school offers more chances?

Masterus i think its funny ur so sure of urself......i can't wait til u acctually get to the real world where no one will like you and you'll need to learn to shut your mouth on things that don't concern you.... no you would not take AP calc BC for we don't even offer it...fizix is right when she said that our teachers are horrible so we need to find our own way to learn....but only ms.weibe is bad for french fizix....manalan is amazing! ok anyways you need to learn that there are smarter ppl then you (like fizix who is like the smartest person in our school) and you need to find a new hobby then to look for an opprotunity to make fake assumptions

o and I would like to commend you on your grammar Masterus :).....I can see why you think so highly of yourself

pm me the plan or just post it up for all to see

Masterus needs to wait till he gets to the real world. He says things without thinking, and ultimately, later in life, it's going to get him in trouble. Some people don't put up with that.

Do you happen to go to a private school? Because you act really arrogant.

There are a ton of kids ahead of even you, as hard as it may be to believe. There will always be people smarter than you.

I would just like to add something...

I was big on the planning thing and had my whole senior year mapped out.
AP Chems
Pre-calc ( I suck at math..yeah yeah yeah)
AP English
AP European History
Newswriting
Honors Physics
Spanish 4
Biotechnology

Lets just say that it is a lot easier to plan this difficult schedule than it is to actually be able to handle it....and that schedule isn't even that hard!

I ended up with:
Honors English
Spanish 4
Newswriting
AP Euro
Physics
Alg 3(yeah yeah yeah)
TA

^There is such thing as an algebra 3? Shoot me now.....

No, because what I'm doing isn't even a track...It's virtually impossible at my school, but I'm doing it somehow. I'm one of a kind, but at their school, they're offered higher classes to a younger "audience", thus allowing more chances throughout high school.

I'm one person, they're a group since the track they take is a school listed track offered to freshmen.

No, I could have gone to a private school, but what's the point? Other than smaller classes, I wouldn't have time to get to meet new people so I stuck with my oldies, but goodies.

Well, honestly it wouldn't be hard to get ahead at my school either. It's entirely possible for a freshman to take all AP's including AP Physics C, AP Calc BC, APUSH, etc, etc.

But really, there's not much of a point to do it.

Well, what happens with tracking is it's difficult to get a chance to leave our track and take classes outside our tracks. So often it seems like they offer seven classes every year. Which isn't that much freedom. You've basically got yourself pigeonholed in eighth grade, especially if you start in a track with lower math requirements.

Think of it this way: We're given a highly nutritious diet, but are forced to eat all of it, even the parts we don't want. You've got a buffet, and can take some from the "good for you" section and some from the "guilty pleasures."

Do we get more opportunities, or "chances?" Maybe. We certainly don't get more chances to take things like debate. Or gym. Or computer science -- since we're tracked we get very few electives. But (in our track) we do get lots of math. Which is good, if you know you're a math person in eighth grade and are willing to forgo your chances at taking more non-math classes. If that's you, tracking's a great thing -- since we've got an entire program devoted to math and science, we offer more math than most public schools.

(but it's actually mason. lol.)

lol....Well you beat him in Vero with that 111.....I still don't know how you did that but ya fizix is completely right so if you have anything to say, just don't say it k thx :)

"It's virtually impossible at my school, but I'm doing it somehow. im one of a kind"
0.o umm i like ur confidence masterus hahaha

sorry couldn't resist ;)

Say Masterus, you mentioned a while ago on the Prep School forum that you were admitted to some prep schools but chose not to attend (I assume those were the private schools you were talking about). Could you tell me what those were? You posted your stats a while ago I think, but you didn't mention what schools they were and your stats at the time. Sorry to do this on the High School forum, but you're not on the Prep School one anymore.
