I am a non traditional older student who will start UCLA in the fall and I am wondering which fraternities are going to be more open towards older students like me? Thank you

Are fraternities like Pi Kappa Phi, Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon any good?

i know someone in Pike who’s 24. Hell, i know someone in the Law frat who’s 30. Don’t worry too much about your age, it’s nothing too out of the ordinary.

I’ve heard good things about Pi Kappa Phi (I’m actually planning on rushing them as a second year in the fall), they seem to take all kinds of different people. Sigma Alpha Epsilon has a reputation for being a bunch of ripped guys. I don’t know much about their attitude towards older students but I’m assuming to have a decent shot at getting a bid you should be pretty damn muscular/athletic. Delta Tau Delta doesn’t seem too selective, but just from things I’ve heard from some of my friends they are kind of a lower tier frat. Pi Kapp is probably your best option out of those. I don’t know a ton about greek life though so don’t take my opinions as fact. This is only information based on my (fairly limited) observation, the opinion of a couple of my friends who are in frats/sororities, and general reputation.

Two of my close friends are Lambda little sisters and they seem to really like it. From what i’ve heard from them the hazing is very intense though (don’t know if that’s a factor at all for you). I’m not on campus right now to talk to them but I can get some info from them when I go back to school next week.

i know zeta phi rho, and theta delta beta are filipino/south east asian interest frats.
besides the three fraternities that i mentioned in my first post, what other fraternities are good as well?

you should do a quick search…someone else asked questions about the frats and I remember linking them to some good threads about people’s opinions on them

I’m a lambda. One of my pledge bros was 26 when we pledged (he de-pledged for personal reasons) but yes, we definitely give bids to 24-25 year olds if they are potential good bros.

Hmmm…I think we do not any from last year though. We don’t really care what race you are it just depends on who rushes and who we think are cool. We’ve had caucasians and most chapters have african americans and everybody haha.

I see that you have been getting great feedback from people at your school, i dont go there but I can tell you that nationally it is very common. My own fraternity has 4 actives that were in the armed forces before coming to college and with so many returning veterans this is becoming more common.
