"Notre Dame quarterback Zach Frazer has been granted permission to seek a transfer and intends to leave the school, according to two people familiar with his plans.

Frazer plans to visit up to five schools as early as this week. Among the schools with mutual interest are Rutgers, UConn, Miami, Louisville and East Carolina.

Several MAC programs have also inquired about the strong-armed, 6-foot-5, 226 pound redshirt freshman."

what do you guys think?

Who gives up a chance to play football football at ND? Seriously, what an idiot.

You danbrenn are the idiot.......he will not be the starter... that is why.

It's actually the smartest decision for him if he wants to pursue a career in football. Weis just named his top three quarterbacks out of four and Frazer was not included so his 'chance' at playing at Notre Dame seems a bit limited. With four years of eligibility left and the talent to start at a number of Division 1A and AA schools, it's in his best interest and it is a very astute decision to transfer out.

To say that his chances of starting are "limited" is even optimistic considering that Crist is coming next fall. If he stayed, he would likely just see time with the practice squad. This is a smart move for Zach if he wants to be a starting QB, because it most likely won't be happening at ND unfortunately. I wish him the best of luck wherever he ends up.

ya, he had no chance of playing

papa charlie already said that the top three were jimmy, sharpley, and DJ

REMEMBER, he was a huge prospect and therefore most likely carries a big ego with him. I doubt he could take being the 4th best player on the team. At Uconn, or where ever he decides to go he will prob be the starter or atleast compete for the job next year

Wow...harsh Omniscient. I am just saying that I would rather be a part of the team and not play at Notre Dame, than start at East Carolina. Football is a game, Notre Dame is a life changing place.

That's tough though.

It sucks to be on the bench, never starting a game no matter how hard you work. Some players choose to remain in a competitive team and everything works out for them. However, some just want to play regardless of their team's reputation.

I think he is headed for Cincinnati, but we will see. He and his family have been pure class throughout all of this and I wish him the best wherever he goes.

The reason he is transferring is because he is not in the top 3 quarterbacks and we have a commitment from another really strong quarterback who is going to be a senior in high school this year, so his chances of playing at ND are slim. It makes sense, and I respect his decision.
